Tester simulates LTE network with simultaneous TDD
Rohde & Schwarz has successfully verified combining various frequency bands in mixed-mode TDD and FDD mixed carrier aggregation. During the test, the R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester simulated an LTE network with simultaneous time division duplex (TDD) and frequency division duplex (FDD).
Testing eCall in-vehicle systems
With the EU aiming to make the automatic eCall (emergency Call) system mandatory in all new cars by the end of 2015, conformance test systems that enable manufacturers to quickly and reliably verify their eCall solutions are in high demand. By Christian Hof, Product Manager, Mobile Radio Testers, Rohde & Schwarz.
Oscilloscope portfolio features at embedded world 2015
From its Munich base Rohde & Schwarz will motor up the autobahn to the embedded world 2015 exhibition in Nuremberg bringing its complete and enhanced oscilloscope portfolio. The high definition mode increases the vertical resolution of the R&S RTO and R&S RTE digital oscilloscopes to up to 16 bits, a 256 fold improvement over the 8 bit resolution available in standard mode.
Video tester family extended to meet HDMI 2.0 6G
Rohde & Schwarz is expanding its video tester family to enable electrical measurements of HDMI 2.0 6G sources: the R&S VT B2380 TMDS time domain analyser. The compact sub-sampling based option features a cost/benefit ratio and gives users the advantage of carrying out "plug and measure" electrical analysis.
200MHz oscilloscopes developed for educational market
Rohde & Schwarz has designed 200MHz models of the R&S RTM oscilloscope, especially for universities and educational institutions. The education mode was developed for test and measurement practica and makes it possible to disable all analysis tools (e.g. Autoset and QuickMeas) and automatic measurements.
Oscilloscope option aids CAN FD interface protocol analysis
The Rohde & Schwarz RTx-K9 option now enables R&S RTE and R&S RTO oscilloscope users to access analysis solutions for the CAN flexible data (CAN FD) interface protocol. These interfaces are seeing increased use in automotive and industry applications due to rising data rate requirements. Introduced in 2012, the CAN FD serial bus protocol with a maximum data rate of up to 15 Mbps boosts controller area network (CAN) performance. This b...
Additional modules enhance open switch and control platform
Seven new modules have been added to the R&S OSP open switch and control platform from Rohde & Schwarz. Users now have altogether 28 modules at their disposal for implementing a variety of RF wiring configurations between test instruments and DUTs. This allows them to reproducibly configure even automatic path switchovers in complex RF test systems and control them via Ethernet.
Software tool delivers MIPI Alliance test
Rohde & Schwarz has introduced the new R&S RTO-K26 MIPI D-PHY compliance test software to offer automated tests in line with the current v1.1 specifications of the MIPI Alliance and the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL). The software is tailored to the needs of developers of smartphones and mobile devices with MIPI D-PHY implementation.
Firmware update boosts data recorder sample speed
A new firmware update has been added to Rohde & Schwarz’s R&S IQR100 digital I/Q data recorder. It provides users with a data rate of nearly 100 Msample/s instead of the original 66 Msample/s. Plus, the exchangeable memory pack's capacity has been increased from 1 Tbyte to 2 Tbyte.
Oscilloscope option enhances signal analysis
The R&S RTM-K15 history and segmented memory option expands the maximum memory depth of the R&S RTM bench oscilloscope to 460 Msample per channel. The segmented memory has a variable depth ranging from 10 ksample to 20 Msample, enabling acquisition of up to 45,000 individual waveform segments.
Software enhances oscilloscopes vertical resolution
The high definition (HD) mode software increases the vertical resolution of the R&S RTO and R&S RTE oscilloscopes to up to 16 bits, a 256-fold improvement over 8-bit resolution. To achieve this higher resolution, the signal is low-pass filtered directly after the A/D converter. The filter reduces the noise, thereby increasing the signal-to-noise ratio.
Investment keeps Rohde & Schwarz stable in challenging year
Despite challenging economic conditions in key markets, Rohde & Schwarz reported a stable 2013/2014 financial year. The family-owned, Munich-based company says it successfully defended its market position in all of its business fields, by producing technically advanced products and mainly as a result of its technologically leading product range and a stable situation in core European markets. In Latin America, the group actually achieved a si...
67GHz test setup presented at 5G Global Summit
Rohde & Schwarz has presented a compact test setup for generating and analysing signals up to 67 GHz at the 5G Global Summit in Busan, South Korea. The test setup consists of the up to 20 GHz R&S SMW200A high-end vector signal generator, a harmonic mixer from subsidiary Radiometer Physics GmbH (RPG) and the R&S FSW67 high-end signal and spectrum analyser.
Local team fields full test squad at electronica
electronica in Munich (Nov 11-14) is a home game for the Munich-based locals Rohde & Schwarz so it will not miss the opportunity to parade a tranche of instruments before the show's international audience. These range from general-purpose to high-end measuring instruments, for the lab and the production line.
EuMW 2014: Radar target simulator eyes automotive market
Rohde & Schwarz chose European Microwave Week to take the wraps off an agreement to sell the ARTS turnkey radar target simulator from ITS and miro-sys. The market target is automotive radar now being installed in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), to quickly and precisely measure the speed and distance of multiple objects, regardless of weather conditions.
EuMW 2014: Network analyser extension unit launched
At European Microwave Week Rohde & Schwarz has introduced an extension unit for its R&S ZVA high end network analyser family. The R&S ZVAX-TRM can be combined with an analyser to yield a powerful, compact and highly customisable system. The extension unit conditions the signals from the network analyser as required for a given task and either returns them to the analyser or outputs them via its integrated high-power test ports.
