High power solar panels can interrupt in an emergency

The challenge of de-energising solar PV panels and other renewable energy sources has been addressed by Omron Electronic Components Europe with the launch of a high power DC relay capable of rapidly interrupting 25A at 1,000VDC in the event of an emergency.

Face recognition module by Omron speeds up

Omron Electronic Components have announced a faster version of its face recognition module, boasting a maximum recognition speed of up to ten times that of the existing unit. Using Omron’s HVC module, any embedded developer can add face recognition functionality to a system without the need to understand the algorithms or the optical design.

Micro-displacement sensor offers a resolution of 10µm

Capable of resolving just 10µm (one tenth the diameter of a human hair or the thickness of a coat of paint), an optical micro-displacement sensor has been announced by Omron Electronic Components Europe. The high resolution of the Z4D sensor makes it suited for paper thickness and multi-feed detection office equipment and ATMs, as well as travel detection in industrial automation systems, consumer electronics and other applications.

Outer spring type added to probe pin range

Reliably detect mirrored & transparent surfaces

Able to reliably identify mirrored, transparent, diffuse and other hard to detect surfaces, a high performance optical sensor has been unveiled by Omron Electronic Components Europe. The B5W Light Convergent Reflective Sensor detects target objects much more reliably than general reflection photo sensors, even those that are often a challenge - such as black surfaces.

Compact power relay is capable of switching 5A at 250VAC

Omron Electronics has unveiled a compact, efficient power relay, capable of switching 5A at 250VAC for industrial control and building automation applications. According to Omron, the G6DN is not only the smallest design of its specification on the market, but also offers the lowest coil power consumption – just 110mW. This makes it extremely efficient, as it requires only a minimal amount of energy to switch the relay.

MOSFET relays support continuous loads up to 3.3 or 6.6A

Omron Electronic Components Europe has announced two high current MOSFET relays that support continuous loads of up to 3.3A AC and 6.6A DC, respectively. The G3VM-61GR2 and G3VM-61HR1 match the performance of comparable Omron electromechanical relays, and exceed that of competing solid state relay alternatives, making them suited for electromechanical relay replacement in smart meters, security, medical and industrial applications.

A Human Vision Component (HVC) module, which can add face and gesture recognition functionality to any embedded system, has been released by Omron Electronic Components. Handling the complexities of seeing and recognising faces, bodies and gestures, the module requires the integrator to read the data output and programme the system to react appropriately.
