The challenge of de-energising solar PV panels and other renewable energy sources has been addressed by Omron Electronic Components Europe with the launch of a high power DC relay capable of rapidly interrupting 25A at 1,000VDC in the event of an emergency.

Omron Electronic Components Europe is launching Aerial Imaging technology in Europe, allowing directions and other images to appear floating in the air in shopping malls, transport terminals and other locations. Commenting, Gabriele Fulco, European Product Marketing Manager Sensors of Omron said, “This is the future of signage. Omron Electronic Components have announced a faster version of its face recognition module, boasting a maximum recognition speed of up to ten times that of the existing unit. Using Omron’s HVC module, any embedded developer can add face recognition functionality to a system without the need to understand the algorithms or the optical design.

Capable of resolving just 10µm (one tenth the diameter of a human hair or the thickness of a coat of paint), an optical micro-displacement sensor has been announced by Omron Electronic Components Europe. The high resolution of the Z4D sensor makes it suited for paper thickness and multi-feed detection office equipment and ATMs, as well as travel detection in industrial automation systems, consumer electronics and other applications.

Supporting AC and DC loads of up to 5A or 600V, Omron Electronic Components Europe has announced high capacity MOSFET relays for industrial and factory automation applications including machine tools, robots and inverters, as well as test and measurement equipment and security systems.

Omron Electronic Components Europe has launched a sealed ultra subminiature lever switch featuring a long stroke, a unique highly reliable contact mechanism and near silent operation. The Omron D2AW long stroke sealed switches feature a unique twin contact design, giving higher reliability. The contacts have a sliding action, which not only helps remove dust and other contamination, but is also exceptionally quiet.

Omron Electronics has unveiled a compact, efficient power relay, capable of switching 5A at 250VAC for industrial control and building automation applications. According to Omron, the G6DN is not only the smallest design of its specification on the market, but also offers the lowest coil power consumption – just 110mW. This makes it extremely efficient, as it requires only a minimal amount of energy to switch the relay.

Omron Electronic Components Europe has announced two high current MOSFET relays that support continuous loads of up to 3.3A AC and 6.6A DC, respectively. The G3VM-61GR2 and G3VM-61HR1 match the performance of comparable Omron electromechanical relays, and exceed that of competing solid state relay alternatives, making them suited for electromechanical relay replacement in smart meters, security, medical and industrial applications.

Designed for applications where the detector needs to be installed in the appliance away from the main circuit board, Omron Electronic Components has launched a range of wire-mounted photo micro sensors. The 12 wire-mounted devices greatly increase the flexibility of installation and reduce assembly costs.

Rated for at least 5 million operations and switching at 300 operations per minute, two durable compact surface mount switches have been introduced by Omron Electronic Components Europe. The D2LS switches are aimed specifically at high use switching applications such as elevator switches, circuit breakers, digital pens and laser pointers.

  To address the challenges of tight space constraints and low signal strength in sensing applications, Omron Electronic Components Europe has expanded its G3VM family of MOSFET relays. The company has released six relays in the VSON package alongside ultra-sensitive relays.

Omron Electronic Components Europe is to premiere its embedded face and gesture recognition module to the public at electronica. New relays and switches for smart meters, electric vehicles, renewable energy systems and general industrial applications will also be featured on Omron’s stand.

A Human Vision Component (HVC) module, which can add face and gesture recognition functionality to any embedded system, has been released by Omron Electronic Components. Handling the complexities of seeing and recognising faces, bodies and gestures, the module requires the integrator to read the data output and programme the system to react appropriately.
