PWM controller for desktop and server applications
Designed for high-end desktop and server applications, a six-phase pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller compliant with Intel’s VR12/12.5 specification has been announced by Intersil. The ISL6388 features multiple time programmable NVM that allows for the creation of custom configurations during the design process, eliminating the need for a soldering iron to make adjustments.
Lithium battery operates at higher temperatures
Ismosys has followed up its recent appointment to represent the components division of Seiko Instruments (SII) in the UK and Ireland by releasing a new coin-cell lithium rechargeable battery that offers a much higher operating temperature than conventional rechargeable batteries.
Infra-red LED slimmed down to lowest ever profile
A flush-mountable infrared LED, means remote control functionality can now be incorporated in a lower profile than ever. The T-Midled SFH 4140 has been developed by Osram Opto Semiconductors adding to its portfolio of remote control transmitters. The infrared transmitter can be integrated in very thin smartphones and tablet computers and it is available at distributor Rutronik.
3000W AC/DC power supply provides current down to zero
A series of 3000W programmable AC/DC power supplies, designated the HDS3000 series, has been launched by XP Power. Complimenting the company's existing 800W and 1500W versions, the series comprises seven single output models providing all the popular nominal output voltages from + 12 to + 60 VDC.
Darlington arrays drive big inductive losses
Higher performance, lower cost versions of the industry-standard ULN2000 series of Darlington arrays are now being offered by Diodes Inc. The modules integrate seven open-collector Darlington transistors, each capable of producing a high output current of 500mA, from outputs rated at 50V.
Synchronous buck regulators support auxiliary rails on FPGA platforms
Intersil has introduced 3Amp synchronous buck regulators for which it makes the claim that the devices will improve reliability and extend the life of end products. With integrated high side and low side MOSFETs, the new ISL85003/3A buck regulators support an input voltage range of 4.5V to 18V.
Innovative MOSFET design drives redundancy modules
There is a new MOSFET technology design at the heart of PULS YR-series of redundancy modules which are now available at BEC Distribution. These new DIN-Rail Power Supply Redundancy Modules are aimed at critical applications where failure of the 24V power supply is not tolerable, and redundancy - where two or more supplies are paralleled - is the preferred fail-safe solution.
Electrostatic screening probes boost accuracy
PCIM 2014: Wide-band screened CWT Mini Rogowski current probes from Power Electronic Measurements (PEM) use electrostatic screening strategy to enhance accuracy in the presence of large electrostatic interference signals. The shielding technique uses a low sensitivity coil and patented low-noise signal-conditioning circuitry.
Deliver 100W and data via a single standard USB port
Featuring an industry-standard power delivery and battery charging protocol, the UPD100X family of USB Power Delivery (UPD) controllers has been introduced by Microchip. 40 times the power compared to USB 2.0, a single USB cable can be used for data and simultaneously deliver up to 100W of power from a single standard USB port.
Power protection filters for military applications
Designed to protect downstream DC/DC converters in vehicle, mobile or avionic applications of up to 230W power rating, Stadium Power has introduced a range of military power system protection filters. The COBRA family consists of a range of low profile, PCB mounted, baseplate cooled, fully compliant surge and transient protection modules with integral EMC filter.
