Low voltage DC/DC converter boosts efficiency
Diodes Incorporated has released the PAM2401, a low voltage 1MHz step-up DC/DC converter designed to meet the heightened efficiency demands of portable products including battery backups, cordless phones and GPS receivers. Maintaining an operational efficiency as high as 95%, this synchronous converter provides true output disconnect to prevent leakage and ensures safe start-up at an input as low as 1V.
New slimline 650W cPCI pluggable PSU
Verotec has extended its range of pluggable power supplies optimised for use in CompactPCI systems with the introduction of a quad output 650W unit. To meet the PICMG 2.11 Power Interface high power requirements on the 3.3 and 5V rails, the compact slimline 6U 8HP 160mm unit features two independent converters operating in parallel enabling the PSU simultaneously to provide 80A at 5V and 70A at 3.3V.
POL regulator features Dynamic Loop Compensation
The Ericsson 3E series BMR464-50A is a third-generation digital point-of-load (POL) regulator that features Dynamic Loop Compensation (DLC) and also extends output current up by 25% to 50A from the 40A offered by the BMR464-40A, yet it comes in a fully compatible footprint. Embedding the latest Dynamic Loop Compensation technology, the BMR464-50A runs the DLC algorithm as default following the enabling of the output.
Giant battery to help tackle energy storage challenges
The UK’s first two megawatt (MW) lithium titanate battery is to be connected to the grid later this year, as part of new research to tackle the challenges of industrial-scale energy storage. The project – led by the University of Sheffield and – aims to test the technological and economic challenges of using large scale batteries to provide support to the grid.
