Electronic Specifier, the leading B2B trade media brand for the electronics and engineering sector, has announced that Mark Gradwell has joined the team as Contributing Editor.

Mark will contribute across the full Electronic Specifier host of titles with a primary focus on Electronic Specifier and Procurement Pro.

Mark brings almost 25 years’ experience in the electronics and deeptech sector, having built a career spanning client-side, agency-side, and media-side roles – a combination that gives him a rare, rounded perspective on how technical stories are told and reach their audience. He spent more than a decade in UK and European marketing leadership positions at test and measurement firm NI, before moving agency-side as Account Director at B2B electronics and industrial technology PR firms BWW Communications and Technical Publicity. In these roles, Mark worked closely with subject matter experts and spokespeople to understand complex technology and messaging, distilling it into engaging technical content for the engineering press and its audience.

For six years, Mark brought these skills together as Editor at EPDT (Electronic Product Design & Test), where he held responsibility for all editorial content across print, digital, and social channels, helping to develop the title’s editorial voice through his extensive industry network, technical understanding, and strong writing skills.

Although not an engineer himself, Mark is a self-described STEM enthusiast who has spent his career working alongside engineers, helping to explain how the technologies they develop will ultimately solve the grand challenges facing society – an outlook that aligns closely with Electronic Specifier‘s own editorial mission.

Commenting on the appointment, Paige Hookway, Managing Editor at Electronic Specifier, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Mark to the team. Mark and I have known each other for over 10 years, and I’ve long admired the way he combines deep technical understanding with genuine storytelling instinct. To finally be able to work together, after a decade of crossing paths across the industry, feels brilliant – and I can’t wait to see the insight and expertise he brings to our readers across Electronic Specifier and Procurement Pro.”

Commenting on his new role, Mark Gradwell said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the Electronic Specifier team and returning to an editorial role. Electronics is one of most fascinating and impactful sectors around – its technology touches almost every product, application, and industry, improving everyday life for millions of people. Engineers do amazing work that often doesn’t get the attention and credit it deserves – so I’m excited to get to work with Paige and the whole Specifier team to help tell those stories for our audience.”

Mark will be attending several major industry events over the coming months, including European Microwave Week, Microelectronics UK, and electronica, and welcomes the opportunity to meet readers, contributors, and industry contacts at each. Feel free to email him at mark.gradwell@electronicspecifier.com

When he’s not covering the industry, Mark – now that his kids have grown up – can usually be found at a gig, following football, running, or enjoying a good beer.
