Employing a novel driver algorithm ensures high PF and low THD while maintaining very high efficiency, Power Integrations has announced an LED driver IC family. The LYTSwitch-1 single-stage, non-isolated, buck topology drivers enable the design of LED bulbs and tubes with high constant-current accuracy while using a minimum number of components.

Power Integrations has expanded its InnoSwitch-EP family of off-line CV/CC flyback switcher ICs with the introduction of a 900V device. The 900V InnoSwitch-EP IC targets power supplies operating from high-voltage DC and three-phase power sources found in industrial, motor-drive, metering and renewable energy applications, as well as standard mains-voltage applications where continuous operation is required during line swells and surges.

The LYTSwitch-3 family has been added to the LYTSwitch line of LED driver ICs from Power Integrations. Well suited for bulbs, tubes and downlights up to 20W, LYTSwitch-3 ICs offer dimming performance with both leading edge and trailing edge TRIAC dimmers, and support both isolated and non-isolated topologies.

Power Integrations, in association with Cypress Semiconductor, announced a joint reference design describing a 20-watt, USB-PD compliant AC-DC power converter targeted at chargers for smart mobile devices. Combining PFC and constant-current output, the LYTSwitch-5 single-stage LED driver IC family has been introduced by Power Integrations. The devices achieve over 90% efficiency, 0.9 PF, less than 5% THD and ±3% current regulation accuracy over line, load, production variance, temperature and multiple topologies, making it suited for solid-state lighting applications below 25W.

Expanding its InnoSwitch IC family, Power Integrations has added a constant power version of the switching technology which combines primary, secondary and feedback circuits in a single surface-mounted off-line flyback switcher IC.

Power Integrations has announced the latest result in one of its ongoing patent cases against Fairchild Semiconductor. After a trial in federal district court in San Francisco, a jury awarded Power Integrations $139.8m in damages stemming from Fairchild’s infringement of two Power Integrations patents.

Increasing design flexibility by covering a wide range of applications and output power, the CAPZero-2 X capacitor discharge ICs have been unveiled by Power Integrations. Featuring an expanded X capacitor range from 0.1 to 6µF and a 1kV breakdown voltage rating which allows for a transient voltage capability of 6kV, CAPZero-2 ICs withstand severe line surges and swells.

Power Integrations has announced the DER-479 reference design, which demonstrates an industrial power supply using the company’s LinkSwitch-4 family of CV/CC primary-side regulated switcher ICs with a 1200V Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT). The design supports 440VAC line inputs and features three outputs, which combine to provide up to 11W of highly accurate constant-voltage DC power.

A dual-channel gate-driver core for 90kW to 500kW inverters and converters has been introduced by Power Integrations. RDK-420 enables users to build an 85-264VAC input smart mobile / USB charger with 5V, 2A output, measured in accordance with new US Department of Energy standards and European Union Code of Conduct Version 5, Tier 2 at the end of a USB cable.

  A compact dual IGBT-driver core has been introduced by Power Integrations. Featuring a footprint of only 57.2x51.6mm and a height of just 20mm, the 2SC0435T2G1-17 is the company’s smallest product in its power range.

A series of 150V silicon diodes, claimed to be the fastest in the world, has been introduced by Power Integrations. According to the company, the Qspeed–based LQA150 diodes have the lowest junction capacitance and reverse recovery charge on the market, which are respectively 60% and 40% lower than trench Schottky devices.

A PSU design tool, developed by Power Integrations, is now accessible as a cloud-based app. Previously, designers could only download the PI Expert Suite to a local PC or workstation. The cloud-based app allows designers to access the design tool from any internet browser, ensuring that they are using the most up-to-date version.
