Buck topology LED driver ICs reduces design complexity

Switcher ICs target industrial & three-phase power supplies

Power Integrations has expanded its InnoSwitch-EP family of off-line CV/CC flyback switcher ICs with the introduction of a 900V device. The 900V InnoSwitch-EP IC targets power supplies operating from high-voltage DC and three-phase power sources found in industrial, motor-drive, metering and renewable energy applications, as well as standard mains-voltage applications where continuous operation is required during line swells and surges.

Single-stage LED driver ICs support multiple topologies

Combining PFC and constant-current output, the LYTSwitch-5 single-stage LED driver IC family has been introduced by Power Integrations. The devices achieve over 90% efficiency, 0.9 PF, less than 5% THD and ±3% current regulation accuracy over line, load, production variance, temperature and multiple topologies, making it suited for solid-state lighting applications below 25W.

Charger interface IC is compatible with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0

Expanding its ChiPhy charger-interface IC family, Power Integrations has announced the first IC for off-line AC/DC chargers compatible with Qualcomm's Quick Charge (QC) 3.0 protocol. The QC 3.0 protocol implemented in the CHY103D device substantially reduces losses in the smart mobile device handset during rapid charging, enabling system designers to choose to charge handsets faster or reduce phone touch-temperature during charging.

Reference design simplifies industrial PSUs

Power Integrations has announced the DER-479 reference design, which demonstrates an industrial power supply using the company’s LinkSwitch-4 family of CV/CC primary-side regulated switcher ICs with a 1200V Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT). The design supports 440VAC line inputs and features three outputs, which combine to provide up to 11W of highly accurate constant-voltage DC power.

Silicon diodes are 'world's fastest'

A series of 150V silicon diodes, claimed to be the fastest in the world, has been introduced by Power Integrations. According to the company, the Qspeed–based LQA150 diodes have the lowest junction capacitance and reverse recovery charge on the market, which are respectively 60% and 40% lower than trench Schottky devices.

PSU design tool is now accessible as a cloud-based app

A PSU design tool, developed by Power Integrations, is now accessible as a cloud-based app. Previously, designers could only download the PI Expert Suite to a local PC or workstation. The cloud-based app allows designers to access the design tool from any internet browser, ensuring that they are using the most up-to-date version.
