Ohmite’s new IS Series of heatsinkable, thick film, planar power resistors meet the requirements of designers seeking a compact, low profile solution to demanding applications such as dynamic motor braking.

Ohmite has added two new extrusion forms to their popular DA/DV line of SMD heatsinks to provide customers with even more flexibility. Now offered in three extrusion forms and two surface finishes, this product family is designed to provide cooling for TO-252, TO-263, and TO-268 devices.

Ohmite have announced that it has expanded its D Series of surface mount device heat sinks with two new extrusion forms. Designed to better facilitate pick-and-place equipment, these new forms provide increased options and flexibility.

Ohmite Manufacturing announces that it will showcase its newest products at Electronica 2012, in Munich Germany. They show is taking place from November 13-16, and Ohmite will be in Hall B6, Booth #334. Products on display include Ohmite’s D Series of heat sinks, FC4L Series of resistors, and CP4 Series of cold plate four-pass heat sinks.

Ohmite has today announced the introduction of the CP4 Series of cold plate four-pass heatsinks. These liquid coldplates are designed for Ohmite heatsinkable type resistors, including the TAP600, TAP800, TA1K0, TA2K0, and various SOT-227 resistor packages. They can also be used to provide maximum cooling for SCRs, rectifiers, diodes, thyristors, and other high-power semiconductor devices.

Ohmite has today revealed that it has expanded its FC4L Series of four terminal current sense resistors. This series, previously available in five watt package sizes, is now also available in two watt package sizes.

Combining high thermal performance, labour-saving attachment mechanisms and adaptability, the new C Series range of heatsinks from Ohmite has been extended to include a version for TO-126 devices. Camming clips which eliminate the need for mounting holes and screws, are resilient and provide the same amount of force after repeated use.

Resistor manufacturer Ohmite, has announced that its corporate parent, Heico Company LLC, has acquired Wakefield Solutions, a designer and manufacturer of thermal management solutions and aluminum extrusions. Much of Ohmite’s recent product range extension has involved a series of innovative heatsinks which uses clips instead of screws to improve thermal management and component placement.

By adding a cam-clip and eliminating the need for a screw hole, the rear side of Ohmite’s new R Series heatsink benefits from being fully populated with extra fins which provide a larger cooling surface area and a significant improvement in thermal performance while using less space.

Available in sizes to fit design requirements, the new C Series of heatsinks from Ohmite combines excellent thermal performance with a component attachment mechanism which will save time and money in the event of an upgrade or a simple replacement.

Available with voltage ratings up to 3kV and resistance values from 100k up to 100Gohms, the new Ohmite HVC Series of wrap around terminal chip resistors have a standard TCR of 100ppm and standard tolerances of 5%, although tolerances as low as 0.50% can be achieved. Voltage coefficients range from as low as 10 and up to 100 depending on resistance value.

Designed for applications requiring high power densities and where forced air cooling is present, Ohmite has released a larger version of their MV/MA 102 heatsink which, due to longer and more efficient fin extrusions, give nearly twice the thermal performance. The new device has a surface area of 49,218²mm and a thermal resistance of 3.6°c/w.

Following increased demand from battery manufacturers, and companies involved in the development of green power solutions Ohmite have responded by launching their SH shunt resistor.

A 5 watt version of its already popular FCSL metal foil current sense resistor range has been launched by Ohmite. The use of foil construction gives the FCSL the effective combination of very low and stable TCRs. It is available in a wide selection of very low ohmic values.

Capable of retaining up to four TO-264 or TO-267 resistors or semiconductors in a single heatsink, Ohmite’s new patented M Series is secured by circuit board mounting and the devices are held in place by a clever ASTM A228 spring clip, making mounting holes and fasteners unnecessary.

Intent on capitalizing on the success of their W Series heatsinks which utilize a clever attachment scheme while remaining competitively priced, Ohmite have introduced black anodized versions which when used in still air, will give customers as much as a 30% increase in thermal performance.

The development of a new heatsink which aids low thermal resistance has enabled Ohmite to push the power ratings of their TO-247 resistors to new levels, resulting in the new TEH100 which is rated at 100W at a 25°C case temperature.

Aware that thermal management is an important part of environmental care, and that anything which doesn’t require the use of electricity in order to maintain acceptable temperatures, is likely to be welcomed by design engineers, Ohmite has launched the first of a range of heatsinks which not only meet these requirements, but also save time and money.
