SPINnaker is a motor control daughter board from Future Electronics for low cost SPACE-Vector-Modulation build for the STMicroelectronics Nucleo-8S208RB kit, a development platform for the STM8S series of low-cost 8-bit microcontrollers board. It is being debuted and demonstrated at embedded world 2019 in Nuremberg (February 26-28).

Distributors continue to help cushion customers from the effects of components shortages, though there are signs of a softening market. Addressing analysts on a call hosted by seeking alpha.com, Arrow Electronics CEO Michael Long indicated that while it’s global components business leading indicators remained healthy and its backlog continued to grow at robust rate, the rate of sequential year-over-year growth moderated.

The Nebula IoT Development Kit has been unveiled by Future Electronics. It was developed with partners Cypress Semiconductor and Murata. The Nebula board is an IoT cloud ready board that allows developers to quickly prototype and deploy their IoT ecosystems. Wireless connectivity is supported by the Murata 1DX module, which is powered by the Cypress CYW4343W Wi-Fi and BT/BLE combo SoC.

Future Electronics has signed a franchise distribution agreement with GP Batteries, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of primary and rechargeable batteries for electronics products. The agreement with GP Batteries International gives Future Electronics a sales franchise spanning the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, and North and South America.

Dublin's Decawave goes global with Future Electronics
Future Electronics has signed a worldwide franchise distribution agreement with Dublin-based Decawave, a manufacturer of low-cost, low-power indoor positioning ICs and modules. Under the agreement, which is effective immediately, Future Electronics is stocking production volumes of Decawave’s DW1000 wireless transceiver, an IEEE802.15.4-2011 Ultra-Wideband (UWB)-compliant device, and the DWM1000 module, which is based on the transceiver.

Seminars focus on wide bandgap semiconductor advances

A programme of European ‘Wide Bandgap Technology’ seminars which will help design engineers to take advantage of the latest SiC and GaN components has been announced by Future Electronics. SiC (silicon carbide) and GaN (gallium nitride) wide bandgap semiconductor materials are attracting great interest from power engineers because of their superior thermal, switching and power-handling characteristics compared to silicon.

Future Electronics bolsters NFC offering
Future Electronics has signed worldwide distribution agreements with Smartrac and Elatec which enable it to supply customers with a comprehensive choice of NFC, HF and UHF tag ICs and inlays, reader ICs and reader modules. Smartrac is a manufacturer of NFC, HF and UHF inlays. Inlays are tag labels which may be applied to almost any end product or package for data-rich, wireless identification. Germany-based Elatec supplies integrated, certified NFC modules operating in the low-frequency and high-frequency bands.

Smart street light solution arrives in EMEA
Future Electronics has strengthened its position in the lighting sector by signing a distribution agreement covering EMEA with Flashnet, a provider of Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure and smart city solutions. The agreement sees Future distributing Flashnet’s inteliLIGHT, a LoRaWAN-compatible smart street lighting solution. It is effective immediately.
