If your wearable fitness tracker is constantly misreporting your heart rate or claiming that you’re burning a huge amount of fat, your natural reaction may be that your device is faulty. However, before making an irate phone call to the manufacturer to demand a replacement, there’s another possibility to be considered - you may be pregnant!

This is exactly what happened to one FitBit user, who posted on Reddit that they were experiencing some odd data feedback from their device, where the number of hours spent in the ‘fat burning zone’ failed to tally with the amount of calories actually burned. They surmised that this was due to a fault with the sensor.

Fellow Reddit users offered pieces of advice and possible solutions such as performing a hard reset of the device. However, one user pondered whether the individual in question had experienced anything particularly stressful over the last few days, or indeed whether there was a possibility that they could be pregnant.

The response was that the latter was "a strong possibility", and sure enough, a day later the user posted back on Reddit with the confirmation, “I’m going to be a dad!”
