Anritsu Corporation has received an order for its Protocol Conformance Test System from China Mobile, the largest mobile communications company in China, to evaluate Inter-RAT handover performance of itsTD-SCDMA mobile terminals.
China Mobile rolled-out 3G TD-SCDMA services in China—the world’s largest mobile telecommunications market—in January 2009. Increasing the quality of Inter-RAT handover is a key part of assured interoperability with existing GSM networks in China and growing China Mobile’s market share. After testing the functions, performance and usability of Anritsu’s Protocol Conformance Test System (PCTS), China Mobile has selected the PCTS for Inter-RAT handover testing between TD-SCDMA and GSM systems, based on Anritsu’s proven track record in delivering market-leading measurement solutions to the worldwide mobile communications industry. The Anritsu PCTS system will be used by China Mobile for mobile terminal vendor acceptance testing to ensure that TD-SCDMA Inter-RAT handover performance is in full compliance with the 3GPP protocol standards. It is also expected that the PCTS system will be of interest to other world mobile phone manufacturers.

Anritsu Measurement Group President Mr. Kenji Tanaka said, “Anritsu is a key player in the spread of TD-SCDMA mobile-phone technology and testing Inter-RAT handover is an important part of developing these services, so we have high hopes for this system. We are very happy to partner with China Mobile in using our test system to support the even wider growth of their TD-SCDMA technology. In future, we expect TD-SCDMA to expand towards TD-LTE and we look forward to this new order as the first step in a long and fruitful partnership with China Mobile in developing high-level TD-LTE test solutions meeting their needs.”

With this new order from China Mobile, Anritsu once again demonstrates its commitment to leading-edge measurement solutions for global mobile communications standards, including TD-SCDMA.
