The latest versions of the Tektronix AFG3000 arbitrary/function generators are now available from TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments). Designated AFG3021B and AFG3022B, these new models have an arbitrary waveform memory increased from 64k to 128k points. They also include full system connectivity via USB, GPIB and LAN interfaces, the latter being LXI compliant.
Both generators provide a maximum sampling speed of 250 GS/s, which is much higher than competitive units in the same price bracket. In function generator mode, this high sampling rate gives very high sine-wave waveform purity, even at high frequencies, and enables pulse waveforms to be defined with high precision. Maximum sine wave frequency is 25MHz, and full variable rise and fall time pulse generator capability is included.

A large oscilloscope-style display enables a representation of the output waveform to be seen simultaneously with full numeric status information.

The AFG3021B is a single-channel generator with a monochrome display. The AFG3022B has two channels and includes a colour display. Both units have a front-panel USB connector for waveform storage using memory sticks.

Users can choose from 12 different standard waveforms. Arbitrary waveforms can be generated up to 128k in length at high sampling rates. On pulse waveforms, leading and trailing edge time can be set independently.

External signals can be connected and added to the output signal. Dual-channel models can generate two identical or completely different signals. A wide range of modulations are available including AM, FM, PM, FSK and PWM.
