The future of automotive high-efficiency power sensing at electronica
The future of its automotive and high-efficiency power and sensing technologies are demonstrated by Allegro MicroSystems at electronica 2018. Allegro MicroSystems in Hall C5 stand 232 is showcasing a variety of intelligent solutions at electronica Munich that give automotive and industrial manufacturers a competitive edge – these solutions include a new coreless current sensor IC.
Modular speed and direction sensor kit at electronica
ZF Switches and Sensors have developed a very efficient modular approach to speed and direction sensing. The hall-effect sensor’s modular design allows customers to pre-select key sensor criteria including shaft length and output interface. Supplied with a plastic housing and mounting flange all standard parts meet the requirements of IP67, and notably IP69 for harsh environmental conditions with ingress protection at depths of 20-60mm...
Safety analysis tool to simplify automotive ISO 26262 compliance
Renesas Electronics is announcing the release of the GUI CAR (Customisable Analysis Report) Tool, an innovative safety analysis tool that will enhance customers’ ability to quickly integrate Renesas products into their safety-critical automotive systems while increasing user confidence in system compliance to the latest safety standard.
CMOS image sensor features low noise charge domain
Gpixel has announced the release of GMAX3265, a high resolution (65MP) image sensor featured with the latest low noise 3.2µm charge domain global shutter pixel architecture.
mmWave technology unlocked through 60GHz sensor portfolio
To advance millimetre-wave (mmWave) sensor technology in worldwide industrial applications, Texas Instruments (TI) has announced its 60GHz sensor portfolio, the highest resolution single-chip, complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS), for industrial systems.
Encoder output choices for best performance and signal integrity
Motion control applications typically require one or more position encoders. Several types are available and the engineer must first decide whether an incremental, absolute, or commutation encoder is most appropriate. After this decision has been made, other selection criteria include resolution and mechanical aspects, such as the mounting pattern and motor shaft size. By Jason Kelly, Motion Control Design and Applications Engineer, CUI De...
Low-power flood/freeze detector reference design
This reference design uses Texas Instruments low-power consumption digital dual temperature and humidity sensors and the SimpleLink ultra-low power Sub-1 GHz wireless microcontroller (MCU) platform to demonstrate a flood and freeze detector with extremely long battery life and no wiring required.
CO2 sensors ensure long-term stability
The IMG-CB Series of accurate, highly stable CO2 sensors aimed at gas detection applications in the agricultural and building energy management system (BEMS) markets, has been introduced by Murata. Murata’s high performance CO2 sensors are based on non-dispersive infrared sensor (NDIR) technology, which is now the most popular type of sensor technology used in CO2 measurement.
Future technologies and the impact on mobile work forces
When asked to rate the importance of technology trends for use by their mobile workforce, buyers rated Big Data (52%) the most important, closely followed by IoT (51%) and sensor technologies (41%), including atmosphere, temperature and biological sensors. The main drivers for the technologies were improved business efficiency and productivity.
High-G acceleration sensors increase driver and passenger safety
At this year's electronica show, Bosch will announce a new generation of high-G acceleration sensors. The SMA7xy sensor family improves safety for car drivers and passengers. When the acceleration sensors detect a collision, the passive safety systems such as airbags can now be deployed earlier, and the restraining effect can be precisely set for the given accident scenario. In this way, the consequences of accidents can be further mitigated.
