IDT has announced that its low power PCI Express (PCIe) switches – optimized specifically for I/O connectivity applications – have been added to the PCI Special Interest Group (SIG) PCI Express Integrators List. The eight devices have passed PCIe specification 1.1 compliance testing and represent the broadest set of PCIe switching solutions to meet this rigorous specification to formally assure interoperability between different devices from different suppliers.
The IDT family of switches was designed to meet the I/O connectivity needs of second and third generation PCIe-based server designs, offering the most competitive combination of power, performance per watt and package size. These characteristics are also essential to emerging applications in the communications, embedded and consumer markets, where PCI Express adoption is rapidly increasing. The I/O connectivity devices deploy the industry’s broadest range of lane/port configurations, providing customers with the greatest flexibility in their choice of system architecture. They deliver a bandwidth ranging from 24 gigabytes per second (GBps) for the 48-lane/12-port switch to 4 GBps for the 8-lane/5-port switch. They achieve this maximum throughput via their support of large payloads of up to 2048-bytes, and support of significantly more flow control credits than have been common in previous generations of switches.

The IDT I/O connectivity devices named to the PCI-SIG PCI Express Integrators List include: 89PES8T5, 89PES12N3A, 89PES16T4, 89PES16T7, 89PES24N3A, 89PES24T6, 89PES32T8 and 89PES48T12. All devices are currently available in production quantities.
