Toshiba has announced a new flash drive U365, a large capacity USB 3.0 flash drive in a retractable form factor. U365 range has up to 256GB in capacity, and maximum read speed of 150MB/s. U365 uses BiCS FLASH, stacked 3D flash memory with higher die area density vs. conventional 2D NAND flash memory.

Four variants are available, with 32, 64 128 and 256GB of storage. The 256GB model can hold approximately five hours of 4K video. Alternatively, the 256GB model can hold 715 five-minute songs of high resolution 192kHz/24bit stream audio.

Sandrine Aubert, Senior Marketing Manager of Toshiba Memory Europe said: “The BiCS FLASH technology allows to increase capacity to 256GB and U365 boasts maximum read speed of 150MB/s. So with U365, we can offer both speed and capacity in one elegantly-designed flash drive.”

U365’s sleekly-designed body comes in a matte black finish design without ornate features to give a subdued and sophisticated feel. Its cap-less design uses an intuitive sliding retractable Type-A USB interface, which is both USB 2.0 (High Speed) and USB 3.0 (Super Speed) compatible. It measures approximately 55x21.4x8.5mm, excluding its slide tab, and weighs approximately 9g.

Compatible operating systems include Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, and OS X v10.9 - 10.11, macOS v10.12 - v 10.13.
