Webinar: key design considerations for humanoid robotics

Electronic Specifier has opened registration for its upcoming webinar, Key design considerations for humanoid robotics, taking place on Tuesday, 8th September 2026 at 2:00pm BST.

Humanoid robotics has moved rapidly from research labs to commercial roadmaps, with major players including Tesla, Figure, Agility Robotics, and Unitree all publicly targeting production timelines within the next few years. That shift is bringing a distinct set of engineering challenges to the fore – ones that don’t map neatly onto existing robotics or automation experience.

This webinar will unpack those challenges directly. How should design teams balance payload capacity against overall weight, given that every additional joint adds mass and power draw? What’s the right balance of autonomy versus teleoperation, and what does that decision mean for onboard compute requirements? And what does a realistic cost-per-unit path look like, when actuators, sensors, and battery systems are still priced for prototype volumes rather than scale production?

Bringing together key voices from across the humanoid robotics space, the session will take a practical, engineering-first approach – examining what design teams should evaluate before committing to a design direction, and highlighting where teams are currently getting it right, and where they’re getting it wrong.

The session will be hosted by Paige Hookway, Managing Editor, Electronic Specifier and is free to attend and open to all, with the session set to be recorded for anyone unable to join live. It runs for one hour and will be delivered in English.

Aly Barakat, Technical Marketing Engineer at Mouser Electronics

Aly Barakat is a Technical Marketing Engineer at Mouser, where he has worked since 2023. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the Technical University of Munich, with a focus on robotics, automation, computer vision, and AI. At Mouser, Aly supports technical marketing initiatives across EMEA and develops industrial technology demonstrations, particularly in autonomous robotics, sensor fusion, and intelligent automation.

Kristen Mogensen, System Engineer for Industrial Systems – Robotics at Texas Instruments


Kristen has broad experience in analog and processor/MCU technologies with a strong focus on motor control, functional safety and communication interfaces used in robotics systems. His working role is support worldwide top customers working with TI. He has been working at TI since 2008 and working in his current role since 2018.

Kristen Mogensen studied Electrical-Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark(DTU) where he received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Martin Schiestl, System Application Engineer, Infineon Technologies

Martin Schiestl joined Infineon in 2023 as a system application engineer. He currently leads the engineering team responsible for the humanoid motor drive system. Schiestl earned his Master’s degree in Mechatronics and Smart Technologies in 2017. Before graduating, he began his career at the same institute in April 2016, focusing on developing GaN applications.

In addition to his technical responsibilities, he lectured on communication technologies, high-frequency technologies, and power electronics. He was recently awarded the PCIM 2025 Young Engineer Award for his publication ‘Compact, Highly Integrated 1 kW Peak Motor Drive’.
