Showing appreciation to those supporting its ongoing commercial progression,Harwin has just confirmed its latest recipient of the Chairman’s Award.

Harwin has expanded the contact layout options of its Gecko-MT high-reliability (Hi-Rel) connectors.

Harwin will be highlighting its latest engineering innovations at electronica 2022. Two examples of what will be on display at the company’s stand (A2.335) are covered in this article.

Building on the initial success of its 3kV-rated Kona high power connectors, Harwin has introduced more variants to the range.

This agreement will add further momentum to sales activity in the significantly important German market.

To support the complete breadth of customer applications, Harwin adds another option to its Datamate series of high-reliability (Hi-Rel) connectors.

Harwin has announced an addition to its Datamate family of 2mm-pitch connectors. The Datamate pin-in-hole reflow (PIHR) products have been engineered to give designers a product that is suited to automated assembly. 

Harwin has introduced horizontal backshells for its Gecko-Screw-Lok (Gecko-SL) series of lightweight, high-reliability (Hi-Rel) connectors.

Expanding their product offering for industrial markets, Harwin has released the Archer .8 series. With a 5mm stack height, these dual-row 0.8mm-pitch board-to-board connectors are intended for uses where there is very limited available space and cost-effectiveness is equally important.

To provide customers with greater choice and increase design flexibility, Harwin now offers rear panel mount cable connectors for both its 2mm-pitch Datamate and 1.25mm-pitch Gecko high-reliability (Hi-Rel) series. These will complement the company’s existing front panel mount solutions, broadening the scope of how connector housings are attached to an enclosure or panel.

Supporting both engineering innovation and sporting achievement, Harwin has announced that it is now an official sponsor of Great Britain’s bobsleigh team. The team is currently preparing to compete in the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, due to be held in Beijing next February.

Always providing highly inventive engineering solutions, Harwin has now expanded its range of spring contacts with the addition of two further versions. These new surface mount components are capable of supporting both horizontal and vertical connection orientations, but come in smaller size formats than were previously available. The S1961-46R has a 3.55mm height, while the S1971-46R has a height of 4.55mm.

In order to provide comprehensive EMI/RFI protection across both horizontal and vertical planes, Harwin has made further additions to its metal backshell shielding options. The company now offers backshells for its horizontal Datamate J-Tek connectors which will address increasingly commonplace right-angle interconnect orientations.

Harwin has strengthened its connector cable assembly offering, with additional variations for its 2.00mm pitch Datamate high-reliability (Hi-Rel) connector assemblies enabling greater customer convenience.

Sam will discuss his journey at the Southampton-based company and his involvement in the design and development of Harwin's new Pitch Power Connector family.

To complement its 1mm diameter terminal pins, Harwin now offers a range of 1.75mm diameter options. These pins will be suitable for use with larger sized sockets where a single connection is required.

Harwin has significantly raised the power levels that its pitch power connector product portfolio can support with the introduction of the Kona series. These 8.5mm pitch connectors’ contacts are capable of delivering 60A of current. This means that applications such as battery charging can be addressed without having to split the current across multiple contacts.

To address safety and mission critical applications, where continued data integrity is of paramount importance, Harwin now offers additional cable assembly services for its Gecko product series. Produced on-demand, these assemblies provide greater resilience against ambient electro-magnetic interference (EMI) and crosstalk from neighbouring wiring.

Harwin has started production in its new manufacturing facilities at the Portsmouth headquarters in the South of England. Providing an additional 1,200m² of factory floor, the new facility is enabling the company to quickly and significantly scale up production of its high reliability (Hi-Rel) connectors to meet market requirements.
