Precision measurement specialist Cropico, part of the Seaward Group, has introduced a versatile range of resistance decade boxes. The company’s range includes a series of 5, 6 and 8 decade boxes which have been designed to provide highly accurate and variable standard values of resistance and current for calibration, comparison and test applications in the electronics design laboratory or maintenance workshop.

With a resistance range from 0.001Ω to 11 Mega Ω and an accuracy of 0.01% across the 8 model series, the Cropico Decade Boxes are incorporated in a ruggedised lightweight metal case. Gold plated brass contacts on the switches ensure low contact resistance and negligible thermal EMF.

The resistor windings comprise an exclusive air cushioned technique that provides virtually stress free elements for improved performance. The elements are non-inductively wound and the direction of each winding is reversed at the half turn points.

Long term stability makes the units ideal for precise resistance thermometer and insulation simulation. Some models in the 005/6/8 range use the Waidner Wolf technique to ensure high accuracy measurements of low values and with resolution as low as 0.001Ω the Cropico decade resistance boxes are particularly suited to PT100 simulation.

The Decade Resistance Boxes form part of wide range of Cropico precision measurement instrumentation available from the Seaward Group.
