Cloud-based system offers visualisation of environmental variables
IQRF Alliance members PROTRONIX, CIS, and MICRORISC have presented a complete solution for CO2, humidity and temperature sensor data collection and visualisation on the IQRF Cloud. The integration of the IQRF Technology into the CO2 sensor, connection to the IQRF Cloud through a plug-and-play GSM or ETH gateway from MICRORISC and Cloud customisation took just 7 weeks.
Liquid flow sensor features a typical response time of 20ms
A liquid flow sensor, which delivers fast and precise measurements for flow rates of 0 to 40ml/min, has been released by Sensirion. Offered in a robust housing, the SLS-1500 provides a versatile sensor solution for applications in demanding industrial environments and laboratory settings. The company’s modular approach of combining the sensor and interface cable ensures an optimum match with rapid results and makes the integration of a flow...
Bosch sensors get new UK/Ireland outlet
Ineltek UK has strengthened its specialist design-led product offering with the MEMS Sensors and Solutions experts Bosch Sensortec a line that fits well with Ineltek’s existing portfolio targeting the Internet of Things (IoT) and Wearable Technology markets.
Rugged pressure sensor provides 0.5ms response time
Measurement Specialties, part of TE Connectivity, has released a low power, compact, gel filled pressure sensor with an I2C bus interface and resolution of 2mm. Designed for depth measurement in various rugged environments, the MS5837-30BA features an ultra-low power delta sigma ADC that offers precise 24-bit pressure and temperature values.
Optimise automotive sensing with Hall effect sensors
Improving the safety of vehicle drivers and passengers is receiving ever greater emphasis, with automotive engineers deploying sensing devices in their systems that deliver increased sophistication and set higher performance benchmarks. By Dieter Verstreken, Melexis.
Magnetic position sensors can replace optical encoders
ams has added to its 47 series of magnetic rotary position sensors for motor and motion control applications with the AS5047P, featuring higher rotation speeds and higher-resolution incremental outputs. Like other members of the 47 series, the AS5047P features ams’ Dynamic Angle Error Compensation (DAEC) technology, which produces outstanding angle measurement accuracy even at very high rotation speeds.
Voice detection system offers detection latency of 8ms
Dolphin Integration targets wearables, IoT applications and other smart devices with WhisperTrigger, the company's voice activity detection system. Whereas voice detection is usually handled by a DSP or a voice processor, the WhisperTrigger, operating in always-on mode, can wake up the system without voice data loss, allowing the rest of the SoC to remain in standby or sleep mode.
Knives out for immortal combat
Two armour clad warriors face each other in the field of battle, armed to the teeth. One wields a sword, one a fearsome axe. Faces are hidden behind black, industrial grilles, reminiscent of Darth Vader's gruesome mask. The combatants take a step toward each other and pause. A bell sounds and the fighters launch themselves at one another, twirling in a capoeira-style flurry of strokes, before one lands a sickening blow... and the fight resumes.
The industry's first thin full-functional tri-axis accelerometers
Kionix has announced the industry's first thin full-functional tri-axis accelerometers, the KX112 and KXCJB. Part of Kionix's flagship family of tri-axis accelerometers, the KX112 is the thinnest 2x2 accelerometer available, measuring only 2x2x0.6mm, making it suitable for the compact designs required in the health, medical and wearable markets.
