Buck converter enables efficient, small form-factor designs

Operating from 2.7 to 5.5V inputs to supply loads up to 2A, the AP3402, AP3419 and AP3429 DC/DC step-down converters have been introduced by Diodes Incorporated. A high switching frequency of 1MHz reduces the size of external components which, combined with small TSOT25 or TSOT26 packages, ensures a small circuit board footprint in end-equipment such as TVs, monitors, set-top boxes, routers, notebook PCs and security systems.

Featuring great efficiency under both light and heavy load conditions, the devices’ 100% duty cycle allows them to work with the lowest volatge input and a low quiescent current of just 90μA helps conserve the life of battery-powered equipment.

The devices also feature an integrated soft-start that prevents damage as the output switches turn on while integrated over-current and over-temperature protection prevent both the system and the IC from incurring damage under fault conditions.

Supplied in industry-standard pinout TSOT25/26 packages, the AP3402, AP3419 and AP3429 DC/DC step-down converters are priced at $0.15 each in 10,000 unit quantities.
