Ground-breaking MIL-STD single-line 1200A HEMP filters from MPE avoid overheating from the paralleling of multiple lower current filters
The catastrophically destructive phenomenon of High-altitude ElectroMagnetic Pulse or HEMP can be caused either by the detonation of a nuclear missile high in the atmosphere or by space weather (solar flares and geomagnetic storms). MPE Ltd of Liverpool has pioneered electrical powerline filters for the protection of critical defence and national infrastructure assets from the effect of Nuclear ElectroMagnetic Pulse (NEMP) since the mid-1980s, wh...
Showa Denko to Launch 6" SiC Epitaxial Wafers for Power Devices
Showa Denko will next month launch silicon carbide (SiC) epitaxial wafers with a diameter of six inches (150mm) - the largest size currently available on the world market - for use in power devices. The company will also start selling next month a new grade of four-inch (100mm) SiC epitaxial wafers with fewer defects and higher uniformity.
High efficiency 100 W DC-DC converters from Murata
Murata have today introduced the new PAE series of high efficiency 100 Watt DC-DC converters specifically designed for use with multi-channel power amplifiers such as those found in the latest generation of microcell wireless transceivers. With a typical efficiency of 92.5%, the fully isolated PAE series keeps power dissipation on the module to a minimum, therefore reducing system temperatures and helping network operators save energy costs.

Linear unveil high side, high frequency MOSFET gate driver
Linear Technology announces the LTC4440A-5, a high-side, high frequency N-channel MOSFET gate driver that operates with an input voltage up to 80V and continues to function with transients up to 100V. This driver, combined with power MOSFETs and one of Linear Technology’s many DC/DC controllers, forms a complete power supply.
CUI introduce 5 Watt ultra-compact USB power adapter
CUI has today announced the release of a new ultra-compact 5 W wall plug adapter with integrated USB connector, the EPSA050100U-I38-EJ. With a footprint of just 41 x 30 mm (1.61 x 1.18 inches), the adapter is among the industry’s smallest AC-DC power supplies to integrate USB.
Micrel introduces 85V half bridge MOSFET drivers
Micrel introduce a 85V Half Bridge MOSFET driver that features an integrated 85V Bootstrap diode and one of the widest programmable gate drive ranges (5.5V to 16V) in the industry. These features make the MIC4604 an ideal solution for the industry’s most demanding battery operated motor applications including power tools and power DC-AC inverters. The MIC4604 is currently available in volume with pricing starting at $0.69 for 1K quantities ...
Pulse Frequency Modulation DC-DC converter from APEC
Advanced Power Electronics has today announced the introduction of a new Pulse Frequency Modulation DC/DC converter with a low quiescent current of around 30µA and shutdown current less than 1uA. Featuring a wide input voltage range from 1.2V to 12V, the APE1910-HF-3 is available in a small RoHS/REACH-compliant halogen-free SOT-23-5 package.
Smarter than the average charger
Accutronics will showcase its skills in the design, development and manufacturing of medical batteries and smart chargers at COMPAMED 2013, in Dusseldorf. The technology allows intelligent communication between the battery and charger. This increases the device’s safety, reduces charge time and maximises battery life. Compamed will take place between November 20 and November 22, Accutronics can be found in Hall 8b Stand F30.
Linear introduce 600mA LDO negative linear regulator
Linear Technology announces the newest member of its LDO+ family, the LT3090 is a 600mA low dropout negative linear regulator featuring low noise, rail-to-rail operation, precision programmable current limit and a bidirectional output current monitor. The device is cable-drop compensation capable, easily parallelable for higher current or PCB heat spreading and configurable as a floating 3-terminal regulator.
