Super-slim rectifiers save space, weight & energy
Helping miniaturise electronic control modules, power converters and motor drives, STMicroelectronics has introduced a family of automotive-qualified high-voltage ultrafast rectifiers. The devices' extremely low profile, light weight and -40 to +175°C operating temperature range support space-efficient vehicle electronics and equipment installed in harsh environments, such as mobile basestations and outdoor lighting.
Switching power supply meets voltage trimming requirements
An AC/DC switching power supply, which has an output power of up to 10KW, has been introduced by MEAN WELL. The RST-10000, which adopts 3-phase AC input, is available with three nominal outputs: 24, 36 or 48VDC. To meet the voltage trimming requirements, users can apply external DC voltage control to adjust the output voltage and current.
Modular busbar system addresses environmental constraints
The development of a power station plant room provided not only logistical and technical challenges but also environmental considerations for Nova Controls during their installation of a water treatment PLC for a Yorkshire biomass site. The performance of Rittal’s Ri4power modular switch gear busbar system helped to deliver the solution that the site demands.
MOSFET suits 12V DC/DC synchronous buck applications
Housed in a high performance 4x5 PQFN power block package, the IRFH4257D FastIRFET dual power MOSFET has been announced by International Rectifier. This package expands the power block family’s ability to lower power for compact designs in 12V input DC/DC synchronous buck applications including advanced telecomms and netcomms equipment, servers, graphic cards, desktop, ultrabook and notebook computers.
DIN rail power supplies provide advanced control features
Operating from a universal input of 85-264VAC (47-63Hz) with active power factor correction to ensure EN61000-3-2 compliance, the compact TDK-Lambda DRF series of energy efficient, DIN rail, convection-cooled power supplies meets demand for applications that require advanced control features, including those found in industrial equipment, building automation and process control.
PMIC reduces processor hotspot on space-constrained PCBs
Providing complete power control for Nvidia’s Tegra K1 mobile SoC, ams has added the AS3722 to its family of PMICs for mobile multi-core ARM processors. The AS3728, an 8A high-voltage power stage complementing the AS3722, provides for a streamlined power architecture in embedded systems, since it can supply the high current required by processor cores directly from a 12V power rail.
Power stage solutions address POL design challenges
To address design challenges in high-power and high-performance multiphase POL applications, Vishay Intertechnology has released a family of VRPower integrated DrMOS power stage solutions in three PowerPAK package sizes. The SiC789 and the SiC788 are offered in the MLP66-40L package with an Intel 4.0 DrMOS standard (6x6mm) footprint, while the SiC620 and the SiC620R are offered in the 5x5mm MLP55-31L package and the SiC521 is offered in the 4.5x3...
