Vishay Intertechnology has announced the release of a new thick film resistor that combines an extremely low resistance with tight tolerances and low TCR for current-sensing applications. To provide high stability for current sensing and shunt applications in dc-to-dc converters, power supplies, motor circuits, computers, and cell phones, Vishay's CRCW....-EL thick film power resistor offers an extremely low resistance range from 10mΩ to 100mΩ, with tight tolerances of ±1% and ±5%.
The device is offered in three case sizes: the 0.1-W 0603, the 0.125-W 0805, and the 0.25-W 1206. The resistor features low TCR of ±100ppm/K, ±200ppm/K, ±300ppm/K, ±400ppm/K, and ±600ppm/K over an operating temperature range of -55°C to +155°C.

The CRCW....-EL features a special metal glaze on high-quality ceramic with a protective overglaze. The RoHS-compliant resistor offers lead (Pb)-free solder contacts on a nickel barrier layer, with pure tin plating providing compatibility with both lead (Pb)-free and lead-containing soldering processes.

Samples and production quantities of the new thick film power resistor are available now, with lead times of six to eight weeks for larger orders.
