Stackpole Electronics has unveiled a new high-current, four-terminal shunt resistor designed to improve power efficiency and measurement precision in AI data servers and other high-density electronics.
The HCSK1216 resistor separates supply current and voltage sensing paths to reduce power loss and eliminate lead resistance errors, according to the company. The all-metal component offers ultra-low resistance and high power handling, enabling more accurate current measurement in compact systems.
Stackpole said the new part occupies about 75% less board space than traditional 2725-size resistors, making it suited to applications where space and thermal efficiency are critical, such as AI server power modules.
The HCSK1216 is available in resistance values of 0.3, 0.5, 1, and 2 milliohms, with tolerances down to 1% and a temperature coefficient of resistance of 50 ppm. Pricing for the 1% version starts at $0.28 per unit.
Stackpole Electronics, founded in 1928 and now part of Japan’s Akahane Stackpole Manufacturing Group, manufactures resistors at sites in the US, Mexico, China, Taiwan, and Japan.
