Linear Technology has introduced a family of pin- and software-compatible 16- and 12-bit SAR ADCs (Analog-to-Digital Converters) that guarantee operation across the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range. Operating from a single 5V supply, the 16-bit LTC1864/LTC1865 and 12-bit LTC1860/LTC1861 each draw only 850uA and are guaranteed for output rates up to 250ksps. The LTC1864 and LTC1860 are pin- and software-compatible ADCs that measure a single differential channel in a tiny MSOP-8 package. The LTC1865 and LTC1861 are pin- and software-compatible ADCs that measure two single-ended channels in an MSOP-10 package.
All four ADCs communicate via a 3-wire SPI-compatible serial interface. Their tiny size, low power, and guaranteed -40°C to +125°C temperature range make these ADCs a great fit for high-resolution automotive applications such as temperature sensing, airflow sensing, or engine fluid measurement. The LTC1860, LTC1861, LTC1864, and LTC1865 are the highest resolution, smallest solution size family of automotive-grade SAR ADCs available on the market today.

The LTC1860, LTC1861, LTC1864, and LTC1865 automotive grade ADCs are all available today.
