Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) has introduced XPedite5201, a conduction-cooled PrPMC / XMC targeting Freescale Semiconductor’s MPC 8548E PowerQUICC III processor. This card comes standard with PCI-X support and optional PCI Express support via an XMC connector. XPedite5201 is an optimal solution for military system designers that need to include additional processing in an existing system, or want to utilize the advantageous performance/watt characteristics of the 8548E.
“The extremely low power coupled with conduction-cooled design makes XPedite5201 a wonderful choice for boosting existing system performance,” states Bret Farnum, Vice President of Sales, “We’ve already had several customers adopt XPedite5201 for future generation combat systems.”

“Freescale is pleased to see 8548E migrate to military applications with Extreme Engineering’s XPedite5201. Their form factor is ideal for smaller avionics and man-pack applications requiring a combination of performance and low power,” states Glenn Beck, a marketing manager within Freescale’s Networking Systems Division.
