The spring fingers design was chosen thanks to a thorough simulation which showed it achieves the best compromise between high electrical performance and good mechanical characteristics. Simulation helped adjusting width, length, number of slots and circular shape of the contact for best results.
The redesign team also improved the protective sleeve assembled on female center contacts which securely guides the male pin during mating operation. Both BMA standard and BMA commercial product ranges benefit from these innovations.
