Advantech introduces GenAI Studio to Edge AI SDK

Advantech announces a new software offering – GenAI Studio for the Advantech Edge AI SDK, addressing the growing demand for cost-effective, on-premises large language model (LLM) solutions.

This initiative aims to make LLM adoption more accessible for developers and small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) by significantly reducing the reliance on GPUs, thereby lowering costs and enabling broader utilisation of generative AI technologies. (Read more.)

xMEMS Labs powers world’s first AI sports glasses

xMEMS Labs announced that its Cowell MEMS tweeter is now shipping in a AI sports glasses product from BleeqUp, a hardware startup based in China.

This milestone marks the first commercial deployment of a MEMS tweeter in AI glasses and signals xMEMS’ growing momentum in the fast-expanding AI eyewear market. (Read more.)

New industrial-grade accelerometer with Edge AI and low power

STMicroelectronics’ IIS2DULPX industrial MEMS accelerometer combines machine learning, power saving, and capability to operate at high-temperature, facilitating intensive sensorisation for smarter, data-driven operations and decision making in asset tracking, robotics, and factory automation, as well as industrial-safety equipment and healthcare devices.

With in-sensor AI to relieve the host processor and automatic self-configuration to optimise power consumption, the IIS2DULPX lets equipment makers build maintenance-free, battery-powered smart sensor nodes in convenient form factors. (Read more.)

NTT announces AI inference chip for real-time 4K video processing

NTT Corporation (NTT) announced a new, large-scale integration (LSI) for the real-time AI inference processing of ultra-high-definition video up to 4K-resolution and 30 frames per second (fps).

This low-power technology is designed for Edge and power-constrained terminal deployments in which conventional AI inferencing requires the compression of ultra-high-definition video for real-time processing. (Read more.)

Navitas and Great Wall partner for 400V-DC power architecture for data centres

Navitas Semiconductor, the pure-play, next-generation power semiconductor company and industry leader in gallium nitride (GaN) power ICs and silicon carbide (SiC) technology, has announced its GaNSense power ICs will power GreatWall’s latest 2.5kW ultra-high power density DC-DC converter for AI data centres.

The rapid development of AI has imposed higher requirements for computing power on data centres. To accommodate more GPUs for computing, the architecture of 400V independent cabinets will become a new development trend. Module power supplies with small size, high efficiency, and greater independence will free up valuable cabinet space, directly enhance computing power, reduce energy consumption, and contribute to achieving dual-carbon goals.
