The Analog Devices ADM6840 is a configurable power supply sequencer and supervisor designed for systems that require controlled startup, shutdown, and monitoring of multiple voltage rails.

The device can sequence and supervise up to eight power supplies, providing adjustable delays between rails and continuous voltage monitoring to help ensure proper system operation.

It is in stock at authorised distributor DigiKey.

Operating from a 2.7 to 15V supply, the ADM6840 supports both power-up sequencing and controlled reverse-order power-down. A DONE output indicates completion of a sequencing cycle, while the POK output provides a system-ready indication for processors, FPGAs, DSPs, and microcontrollers. Voltage-monitoring thresholds are factory-trimmed, providing 0.8% monitoring accuracy.

For larger systems, multiple devices can be daisy-chained to support a virtually unlimited number of power rails. The bidirectional FAULT pin allows rapid fault reporting and system shutdown, making the ADM6840 suitable for complex power architectures used in communications, industrial, computing, and embedded processing equipment.

Applications cover FPGA, SoC, and ASIC power supply sequencing, microprocessor and microcontroller power management systems, servers, networking equipment, and communications infrastructure, industrial control, sensing, and motor control platforms and automated test equipment and healthcare imaging systems
