ZF Services is the only independent multi-brand company with a four MW load test bench. Gears are run on a test rig under a simulated load to measure both structure-borne and airborne noise and analyze wear patterns under load. Additionally, ZF Services offers field technicians both on-shore and off-shore to perform endoscopic inspections, vibration measurements and replacement of individual components. In order to minimize production losses during repair work, ZF Services currently inventories bearing kits and replacement gears to facilitate quicker repair times.

Matthias Benz, within the ZF Services board of directors responsible for non-automotive business, is very pleased with the expansion of the wind-energy business: “The confidence shown by Vestas Northern Europe confirms that we have taken the right step with our sophisticated approach to convince customers with international presence, focused customer orientation and technical know-how. Also, our customers appreciate our quality awareness, cost-consciousness and flexibility.”

ZF Services, a business unit of ZF Friedrichshafen AG, is responsible for the after-sales business of the ZF group. ZF, the largest independent gearbox maker in the automotive sector, will use its experience in the development and production of top-quality driveline technology to produce gears for wind energy systems starting in 2012. With all competencies bundled in the ZF group and its ability to support a product through its entire life cycle, ZF is a reliable partner for its customers in the renewable energy sector.
