Photonic Products is the authorised distributor of what is said to be World's first 642nm, 150mW, single longitudinal mode semiconductor laser diode with TE mode oscillation; the Opnext HL6385DG. This laser diode from Opnext offers the highest optical output power on the market at a visible lasing wavelength of 642nm. Opnext's technology breakthrough was achieved with a new development process, a new waveguide structure and optimised structural parameter.

With its high output power providing exceptional clarity and visibility, the Opnext HL6385DG laser diode is fast becoming the industry standard red laser diode for use in laser light show systems, replacing less intense 660nm diodes.

The device itself is a single longitudinal mode diode with low aspect ratio (<2:1) which, coupled with the small emitting chip size (3x1µm), allows efficient combination of multiple diodes in high power RGB white light sources.
