Wind River has announced that Rockwell Collins has selected Wind River's VxWorks MILS Platform to enable its SecureOne Processor and SecureOne Guard, two of five cross domain technology building blocks that are part of a family of Rockwell Collins' high assurance technologies for military tactical systems.

VxWorks MILS Platform, part of Wind River's industry-leading VxWorks real-time operating system product portfolio, enables software development of multilevel secure (MLS) systems and cross domain solution products by providing high security, high robustness and high performance on a shared computing platform.

Rockwell Collins selected VxWorks MILS Platform because the MILS architecture allows for the development of high robustness (EAL6+) MLS systems for use in environments requiring security and safety.

With VxWorks MILS Platform as a technology foundation, SecureOne cross domain technologies ensure that aircraft can securely process, communicate, display and store data at different classification levels, without the need to install physically separate equipment to securely protect classified data. This results in the user having access to unclassified and classified data on the same display, which provides enhanced situational awareness and reduced user workload, while reducing size, weight and power (SWaP) on the aircraft.

Wind River is very proud to be an integral part of Rockwell Collins' innovative SecureOne cross domain technologies, stated Chip Downing, senior director of aerospace and defense at Wind River. Companies that are responsible for creating powerful aerospace, defense and other infrastructure systems are demanding ever increasing functionality and safe and secure operation, with very high levels of security and safety assurance. VxWorks MILS Platform meets these stringent demands.

Rockwell Collins is demonstrating its SecureOne Guard running on VxWorks MILS Platform at MILCOM 2011 at Wind River’s booth No. 721.
