Fairchild Semiconductor has won the Power Systems Product of the Year Award at the annual Elektra Awards. Fairchild’s FSA9280A USB detection switch took the top honor in the Power Systems category, which judged entrants on power module and power supply innovations from the last 12 months, including new architectures, use of materials and packaging.
The FSA9280A is a high-performance multimedia switch featuring automatic switching and accessory detection for the USB port. The switch allows the sharing of a common USB port to pass audio, USB data / charging, as well as factory programmability. In addition, the FSA9280A integrates detection of accessories, such as headphones, headsets (MIC / button), car chargers, USB chargers, and UART data cables with the ability to use a common USB connector.

The annual Elektra Awards recognize best practices of individuals and companies throughout Europe. Finalists in sixteen different award categories were selected by an independent panel of industry judges with the winners being announced at the Awards Dinner.

Companies continue to demonstrate the importance of technical innovation in their power products,” said Richard Wilson, Editor, Electronics Weekly and Chairman of the Judging Panel. “The winning product had a performance specification that was truly impressive, and the judges felt it would make a real impact in the market.

Fairchild offers an extensive portfolio of power offerings that enable efficient electronics, and maximize energy savings in power-sensitive applications such as power adapters, power supplies, lighting applications, computers, industrial controls and home appliances.
