Active bias, high linearity LNA targets radio, GPS & SDAR
Skyworks has announced the introduction of a 0.5-4.0GHz LNA with an active bias, offering excellent return loss, low noise and high linearity performance. Designed for high performance wireless infrastructure, L and S band military radio, SDAR, DBS set-top box and GPS applications, the SKY67103-396LF's internal active bias circuitry provides stable performance over temperature and process variation.
LTE-only module cuts the cost of 2G to 4G transition
Expanding its popular xE910 series, Telit Wireless Solutions has introduced an LTE-only module which has been designed to optimise bandwidth and performance, while limiting the cost of transitioning from 2G to 4G. The first LE910 V2 variant is a single-mode LTE module. With no fallback in 3G and 2G networks, it is optimised for regions where the 4G technology already has penetration rates above the 90% level.
Cell for lamp post deployment simplifies planning consents
With demand for cellular data continuing to rise and outdoor small cells seen as an essential element in the long-term delivery of high-capacity urban networks, TTP has developed a small cell designed specifically for deployment on lamp posts.
Partnership aims for 5G-ready universal wired/wireless device
Freescale and Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent's industrial research arm, have announced the expansion of a long-term partnership in both commercial and research endeavours. As part of the expansion, the companies are collaborating on a range of initiatives intended to drive further innovation for the world’s increasingly virtualised networks.
Embedded modules support worldwide LTE-A networks
Sierra Wireless has introduced four AirPrime embedded modules, based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE Modem and the first to support LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) networks worldwide. LTE-A is the latest generation of 4G LTE network standards, aimed at improving network capacity, throughput, data speed and operational cost-efficiency.
Laser bar eases coupling of light into fibres
Rutronik is selling the SPL BF98-40-5 laser bar from Osram Opto Semiconductors, that thanks to its high brilliance considerably reduces the complexity of coupling light into fibres. Osram has optimised the chip design in terms of beam quality, resulting in a wavelength of 976nm and high brilliance of 3W/mm*mrad at an optical output of 44W. The laser bar is 5mm wide and consists of five emitters, each 100µm wide and each with cavity length o...
Protective housings target motorsport applications
Protective housings, manufactured by HellermannTyton, are now available from the Motorsport Division of Lane Electronics. For maximum protection, the housings can be supplied in a straight or right-angle format and in a range of materials specially formulated to combine high electric strength, mechanical toughness and superior chemical and environmental resistance.
Wireless charging charges ahead
Will removing division in the industry help promote wireless charging to greater heights? Philip Ling takes a look at the latest developments.
RCS accreditation allows versatile file sharing across all networks & devices
Imagination Technologies has announced that its HelloSoft Rich Communication Suite (RCS) client, an integrated multimedia communication solution, has been accredited by the GSMA. Mobile operators looking to provide a commercial RCS solution can now enjoy the benefits of the carrier-grade HelloSoft RCS client software, including superior voice and video quality, along with the joyn certification mark denoting the RCS consumer-f...
Drone & smartphone photos to help model reality
Bentley Systems has acquired French company Acute3D, provider of Smart3DCapture software for reality modeling. Through reality modeling, observations of existing conditions are processed into representations for contextual alignment within design and construction modeling environments. Advancements in scanning and photography, especially the use of drones for these purposes, are making the capture of such observations broadly and continuousl...
