Three Rohde & Schwarz QPS201 scanners have been installed in the security hall at Edinburgh airport, providing a significant increase in scan rate – reducing wait times for passengers, enhancing security and readying the airport for the future introduction of 100% scanning.

GMIT will be fully integrated into Rohde & Schwarz by the end of January 2019 and retroactively to July 1, 2018. The move allows Rohde & Schwarz to reinforce its commitment to digital products. The focal points are the R&S PRISMON audio/video content monitoring and multiviewer solution and the R&S RelayCaster IP contribution solution.

Analysing the frequency response of a device, using Bode plots, is available now for selected Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscopes. With a new software option, users can analyse the response to frequency changes from 10Hz up to 25MHz without any additional piece of equipment and at a fraction of the price of dedicated solutions.

The R&S NGL200 power supply series introduced by Rohde & Schwarz specifically addresses users in the mobile communications and IoT sectors. The single-channel R&S NGL201 and the two-channel R&S NGL202 deliver up to 60W of output power per channel.

The R&S ZNA high-end vector network analyser, a powerful, universal test platform for characterising active and passive DUTs has been launched by Rohde & Schwarz. Test and measurement specialist Rohde & Schwarz and semiconductor manufacturer Marvell have demonstrated successfully, for the first time ever, all the 1000BASE-T1 compliance test cases for layer 1 (PHY). Using validated chipsets from Marvell and test equipment from Rohde & Schwarz, OEMs, Tier2, System Integrators and test houses can set up Automotive Ethernet networks that are fully compliant with 1000BASE-T1 specifications.

As part of the 5G expert days at Rohde & Schwarz's headquarters in Munich, the host company, along with Anokiwave and iBwave, partnered to plan, implement and measure an indoor 5G NR network. The network was created on an experimental frequency license for mmWave at 26GHz.

Project partners Rohde & Schwarz and Kathrein have reached two important milestones of the 5G TODAY research project. On December 4, a Rohde & Schwarz transmitter successfully went into operation at Bayerischer Rundfunk’s (BR) Wendelstein transmitter station.

Cellular-based 5G V2X latency measurements in vehicular environments have been successfully conducted by Rohde & Schwarz and Huawei in field tests in Munich and Shanghai. The initial measurements have shown that it is possible to achieve delays in the millisecond regime in a 5G network, demonstrating a superior latency performance in comparison to LTE.

Without an LTE connection, there is no 5G NR connection possible.

The NGE100B power supply series from Rohde & Schwarz is easy and safe to operate. The robust instruments have galvanically isolated channels and safety binding posts. In its 2017/2018 fiscal year (July to June), Rohde & Schwarz surpassed the €2bn revenue mark for the first time. At €2.04 billion, revenue was 6.7% higher than in the previous year, while incoming orders rose by 7.4 percent to €2.21BN. The employee count worldwide climbed from around 10,500 to 11,500 by June 30, 2018.

Rohde & Schwarz and Huawei have successfully tested the interoperability of LTE-V connected vehicles with the R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester using the embedded Huawei Balong 765 IC as an LTE-V UE. The solution verified multiple test scenarios for internet of vehicles (IoV) communications based on 3GPP Release 14 Mode 4.

The R&S ELEKTRA EMC test software from Rohde & Schwarz fully automates electromagnetic interference (EMI) tests. It also covers electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) to address both product development and certification in line with international standards.
