New 1200V/50A Large Type DIPIPM by Mitsubishi Electric

Mitsubishi Electric has launched a 1200V large-type Transfer-molded Dual Inline Package Intelligent Power Module (DIPIPM) Version 4 (PS22A79) with an industry leading current rating of 50A. The new power module is designed for use in package air conditioners, refrigerators and other industrial motors.

Mitsubishi Electric has introduced a new High Voltage Integrated Circuit (HVIC) to drive IGBT power modules dedicated for 400V AC lines. The new device M81738FP is suitable for 1200V-class IGBT and has got industry leading high noise immunity and withstand capability to voltage undershoots.

Mitsubishi Electric Installs 665-inch Diamond Vision Display at Tochigi Green Stadium

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced today that it has installed a 665-inch Diamond Vision display at Tochigi Green Stadium, home of Japan's J League professional soccer team Tochigi SC. The order was received jointly with Tochidenko from Tochigi Prefecture in eastern Japan in August 2011 and installation was completed in February 2012, in time for the team's season home opener on March 11.

Mitsubishi Electric Develops EV Motor System with Built-in Silicon Carbide Inverter

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced it has developed a prototype electric vehicle (EV) motor system with a built-in silicon carbide inverter. The EV motor system is the smallest of its kind, measuring just half the dimensions of Mitsubishi Electric's existing motor system that uses an external inverter, and loss is below half that of silicon-based systems.

New DFB-LD and APD from Mitsubishi Electric for 10GEPON

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has introduced a distributed feedback laser diode (DFB-LD) dubbed the ML7xx42 and the PD8xx24 avalanche photodiode (APD). Both new devices have been designed specifically for use in optical network units (ONU) of symmetric 10 gigabit Ethernet passive optical networks (10G-EPON).

New C-Band GaN HEMT Amplifiers for VSAT Applications by Mitsubishi Electric

Mitsubishi Electric is introducing internally impedance matched GaN HEMT power amplifiers for C-band VSAT stations which transmit in the 5.8-6.7GHz frequency range. The MGFC50G5867 and MGFC47G5867 feature industry leading output power of 100W and 50W respectively. The typical linear power gain (Glp) is 10dB for both devices.

Parasitic inductances are a major problem with power modules, in particular in fast switching applications. The parasitic inductance of the component interconnections causes an overvoltage condition and increases the switch-off losses in the semiconductor.
