Telonic Instruments has announced the availability of the new RIGOL RSA800 Series Real-Time Spectrum Analysers and DNA800 Series Vector Network Analysers.
The new instruments are challenging the traditional idea that professional RF testing has to take place at a laboratory bench. Weighing just 1.9kg, the new platforms combine advanced RF measurement capabilities with a compact, portable design that allows engineers to take sophisticated test equipment into the field, production environment, university laboratory or simply carry it in an engineer’s backpack.
With prices starting from £1,650 + VAT, the instruments bring capabilities traditionally associated with larger and significantly more expensive benchtop equipment into a highly portable format.
Taking the measurement capability to the problem
For many RF engineers, testing does not always happen in controlled laboratory conditions. Problems can occur at an antenna installation, communications site, production line or remote location, where taking a conventional suite of test equipment may be impractical.
The RSA800 and DNA800 are designed to address this challenge, combining professional RF measurement capabilities with a small footprint, touchscreen operation, USB-C power and remote-control capability.
The RSA800 Series Real-Time Spectrum Analysers is available in frequency ranges up to 14GHz, with prices starting from £1,650 + VAT.
The RSA800 combines spectrum analysis, real-time spectrum analysis and optional vector signal analysis, analogue demodulation and EMI pre-compliance testing in a single portable platform.
With 40MHz real-time bandwidth as standard and a displayed average noise level of -168dBm (typical), the RSA800 is designed for applications where engineers need to identify and analyse signals and events that may be difficult to capture using conventional spectrum analysis.
A built-in tracking generator is included as standard, allowing engineers to carry out measurements on filters, antennas and cables without requiring a separate generator.
Vector network analysis without the benchtop footprint
The DNA800 Series Vector Network Analysers starts from £2,347 + VAT and provides true two-port vector network analysis, including full S11, S12, S21 and S22 measurements.
With dynamic range of up to 125dB and trace noise as low as 0.005dB RMS, the DNA800 is designed for applications ranging from RF filter and antenna development through to cable testing and PCB impedance characterisation.
Optional Distance-to-Fault (DTF) capability and support for TDR analysis also make the instrument suitable for field troubleshooting and RF installation work.
Designed to go where the engineer goes
Both product families feature a bright 7-inch multi-touch display, USB, LAN and HDMI interfaces, USB-C power input and full SCPI compatibility for automated test applications.
The USB-C power input means the instruments can be operated from a suitable power bank, providing additional flexibility when measurements need to be made away from conventional mains power.
