Six models have been added to the Yokogawa AQ7275 Series of optical time-domain reflectometers, extending its range of applications to cover virtually all metro, access and core networks as well as fibre to the home and passive optical networks.
Key elements of the new models, which bring the total number of products in the AQ7275 Series to nine, include a wider range of wavelengths and enhanced dynamic range (up to 45 dB). High dynamic range is effective for measurements on long-distance fibre transmission lines incorporating splitters with large losses.

The new instruments are the 735031, 735034, 735035, 735036, 735038 and 735041. The 735031 is designed for metro, access network and FTTH applications, supports the maintenance wavelength of 1650 nm, and includes a 1310/1550 nm cut-off filter, while the 735034 is a high dynamic range model for the installation and maintenance of core and metro networks.

The 735035 is a three-wavelength model for access network and FTTH/PON applications. The three wavelengths are 1310 nm for data from subscribers, 1490 nm for data to subscribers, and 1550 nm for video to subscribers.

The 735036 also supports three wavelengths (1310, 1550 and 1625 nm), and is designed for metro and core applications. It also supports the maintenance waveform of 1625 nm and includes a 1310/1550 nm filter. The 735038 supports the same wavelengths as the 75036, but adds high dynamic range capabilities for metro and core network maintenance and monitoring.

Finally, the 735041 is a four-wavelength model (850 and 1300 nm multimode and 1310 and 1550 nm single-mode) for the installation and maintenance of LANs and FTTH.

All models in the AQ7275 Series feature a short event dead zone of only 0.8 m, allowing them to detect closely spaced events in cables installed in customer premises.

The instruments also offer exceptional ease of operation, with the set-up mode selectable according to the skill level of the operator. When combined with the quick start-up capability - 10 seconds from power-up to taking a measurement - this makes the AQ7275 Series a major potential contributor to efficiency and productivity.
