Next-gen flow meters use alumina for sensitivity & accuracy
Morgan Advanced Materials has joined forces with a leading research university to investigate the use of alumina blocks in next-gen ultrasonic flow meters. Together, Morgan and Loughborough University's Advanced Ceramics Research Group are exploring the potential use of reflective alumina blocks in place of the stainless steel blocks which are currently widely used in these applications.

BEI Kimco Magnetics has announced a small Voice Coil Actuator (VCA) for design engineers. The LAS13-54-001Z Linear Housed VCA features an integrated position sensor and moving magnet design with versatile resolution and force attributes. The VCA offers the advantages of moving magnet technology, which features no moving wires and excellent heat dissipation, while providing moderate speed with controllable, gentle stop points.
Level transmitter features a ±0.1°C temperature accuracy
MTS Sensors, a division of MTS Systems, has announced that the temperature accuracy of the Level Plus M-series Model MG level transmitter has been enhanced to ±0.1°C.
Inductive position sensor combines rotary & linear feedback
Gill Sensors & Controls has introduced the Blade25 Inductive Position Sensor, offering a non-contact position sensing technology that provides both linear and rotary position feedback in a single package. Gill's inductive sensing technology can monitor the activator's position in either a straight linear movement or in a curved-arc rotary movement as it passes over the sensing element.
Steel head ultrasonic sensor features IP68/IP69K protection
A steel head ultrasonic sensor, designed for use in demanding medical, food processing applications, has been introduced by PIL. The device’s fully encapsulated stainless steel housing, which features gapless transitions, provides IP68/IP69K protection.
Magnetic sensing IC integrates fluxgate sensor
Texas Instruments has introduced the industry’s first magnetic sensing IC with a fully integrated fluxgate sensor and compensation coil driver, along with all of the required signal conditioning circuitry. Complete integration enables the DRV421 to provide outstanding sensor accuracy and linearity, high dynamic range and simpler system design compared to traditional closed-loop sensors.
