TI Precision Labs - Magnetic sensors: Magnetic field calculator
In this video, you will learn about TI’s magnetic field calculator, which was created to help customers calculate magnetic flux density and select the right sensitivity option for their system.
Start the journey to a dream sensor board
Design the sensor board of your dreams is the opportunity being offered to the community of makers, designers and engineers at element14.com. The Dream Sensor Board campaign proposes the community crowd-source the best combination of sensor modules. Molex, a supplier of connectors and interconnect components, will review the feedback to create a truly crowdsourced sensor board with the features that are the most important to the element14 Communi...
Gesture recognition using ultrasound
A research team at the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems (IPMS) have used a new class of ultrasonic transducers to reliably detect distance changes, movement patterns, and gestures in ranges of up to half a meter. The tiny components are inexpensive to produce, allow for high sound pressure, and provide a flexible frequency design for an optimal balance of distance and sensitivity.
Advanced analogue peripherals allow more sensors and user features
As the latest smart electronic products add extra sensor driven features and adopt higher efficiency power technologies such as silicon carbide or gallium nitride to save energy, STMicroelectronics has unleashed its next generation of microcontrollers with the performance to manage them.
Electronics sensor company overfunds with Crowdcude
Innovative electronics company, Nanusens, has closed a highly successful round of crowd funding via Crowdcube. £604,680 was raised in just 30 days from 750 investors. This was 300% overfunding as the target was £200,000. This brings the total raised via Crowdcube rounds to £1,805,950 or around €2m.
Cost effective innovations to be showcased at Sensor + Test
Global industrial technology company, Sensata Technologies, will be featuring its range of pressure sensors and switches for use in boiler, pump and HVAC applications at Sensor + Test from June 25th to 27th. Highlighted in the exhibit will be Sensata’s new 116CP Pressure Sensor, which features a patented design derived from automotive grade pressure sensing technology.
RGB-IR solution for automotive cabin monitoring systems
Developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, OmniVision Technologies, and Fullhan Microelectronics, a provider of chips and solutions for video surveillance products, have announced a joint solution for capturing and processing high quality colour (RGB) and infrared (IR) automotive interior images, day and night, with a single camera.
Ultrasonic sensor series offers flexibility and efficiency
A new series of ultrasonic sensor has been introduced by Pepperl+Fuchs with the UCC*-50GK series. Only two sensor versions are required for covering a wide range of applications. Intended for distance measurement, the UCC*-50GK uses ultrasonic pulses to measure the distance to the target and reports information through one of three sensor outputs. Versatile configuration options make the sensor incredibly adaptable.
Evaluation kit for environmental sensors with modular approach
It has been announced that Sensirion, the expert in environmental sensing, has relaunched the evaluation kit SEK-Environmental Sensing with a new modular approach. The SEK-Environmental Sensing allows engineers to evaluate sensors and develop innovative sensor applications even more quickly and easily.
Portfolio expansion with new high precision inclination sensor
The new F199 from Pepperl+Fuchs is optimised for high accuracy inclination measurement. Like other inclination sensors, the F199 provides measurement feedback of the angle tilt of machines or machine elements relative to gravitational force. The F199 precisely measures angles from 0-360° with less than 0.01° resolution and absolute accuracy of ±0.15° across the entire measuring range.
