Improving engine reactivity with hall-speed-sensor tech
With the increasing popularity and growing trend of E-Bikes, bicycle system suppliers have set goals to optimise power and performance of their drive systems. In order to support the driver in the best possible way, hall-speed-sensors are used to deliver the required data and thus adapt the engine's power support to the total speed.
Millimetre-scale wireless transceiver for electronic pills
At ISSCC 2020 (Feb 16th to 20th, San Francisco), imec presented the first mm-scale wireless transceiver for smart insertable pills. It is a first breakthrough in imec’s aspiration to realise autonomous ingestible sensors that can measure health parameters such as gut health and transmit in real time the data outside the body.
Back-biased GMR transmission sensor reduces cost
Allegro MicroSystems has announced the release of the ATS19580, a fully-integrated, back-biased GMR transmission speed and direction sensor. Achieving a high level of in-system performance for this application, the ATS19580 reduces system size, complexity and cost - resulting in improved fuel economy.
Pressure sensors market expected to reach $13,466m
The global pressure sensors market is anticipated to reach around $13,466 million by 2026 according to new research published by Polaris Market Research. In 2017, the automotive segment dominated the global market, in terms of revenue. In 2017, Asia-Pacific accounted for the majority share in the global pressure sensors market.
Compact digital temperature sensor with precise output
In today’s world, industrial, consumer and even medical sectors are adopting digitalisation to collect sensor data. While certain devices are fitted with analogue-to-digital converters, the market demands for digital temperature sensors see increased accuracy, smaller size, higher versatility and lower prices as data is used for more precise controls.
Two megapixel 12” wafer-based image sensor
OmniVision Technologies has announced the latest member of its two megapixel (MP) image sensor family, the OV02B. OmniVision is using 12’’ wafers to produce this sensor, instead of the eight inch wafers that are in tight supply but are typically used for 2MP sensors. This enables the company to better address the increasing demand for 2MP in the entry level and mainstream smartphone and tablet markets.
Small, accurate humidity sensor provides precision
From refrigerators and respirators to HVAC systems and cabin comfort in vehicles, there is an increasing demand for humidity sensing technology and the need for smaller, faster, more accurate and energy efficient sensors, which provide better analysis of moisture control. To address this trend, TE Connectivity has released the HTU31 temperature and humidity sensor, a small and accurate sensor.
Environmental sensors at IoT Tech Expo Global
Omron Electronic Components Europe has announced that it is demonstrating new MEMS based sensor solutions for building automation and other environmental monitoring applications at the IoT Tech Expo Global (Stand 397). Centrepiece of the stand will be the recently launched wide angle 32x32 element version of the Omron D6T MEMS Thermal Sensor, offering the widest field of view that Omron has ever delivered.
Torque sensor improves functional safety in cobots
To address the growing demand for safe collaborative robots in manufacturing, TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, has designed a safety torque sensor with integrated and improved functional safety, including increased accuracy and speed, in the next generation of human-robot collaboration.
Flow sensors expanded with thermal flow switch
SICK has extended its portfolio of industrial instruments with the SICK T-Easic FTS, a thermal flow switch designed as an easy, cost-saving answer to detecting liquid flow in pipes, for example in pumps, machine tool lubrication or industrial cleaning systems.
