The 7th generation of TRENCHSTOP IGBTs from Infineon is especially designed for variable speed drives. They are in stock at distributor Digi-Key.

They are based on the new micro-pattern trench technology, which offers a high level of controllability.

These features bring significant loss reduction in the application, especially for industrial drives, which usually operate at moderate switching frequency.

Every switch needs a driver, and the right driver makes a difference.

Together with the TRENCHSTOP IGBT7, Infonenon and Digi-Key are now offering the EiceDRIVER gate driver ICs, including low side driver, level-shift driver, and isolated driver. The EiceDRIVER family offers a wide range of output current options (from 0.1 A to 14 A) and different protection features like DESAT, Miller clamp, OCP, shutdown, integrated bootstrap diode, and isolation.

The 7th generation of discrete IGBT and diode technology with outstanding performance has been released as a flexible series to supersede the short-circuit rated TRENCHSTOP, TRENCHSTOP Performance, and HighSpeed 3, and is to be used as an alternative to the non-short-circuit rated TRENCHSTOP5 technologies.

The 650 V TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 T7 IGBT (hereafter referred to as IGBT7 T7), co-packed with brand-new, full-rated EC7 (emitter-controlled) diodes, offers a significantly reduced IGBT saturation VCE(sat) and diode forward Vf voltage.

The maximum blocking voltage VCE was also increased from 600 V to 650 V. The IGBT7 T7 with its superior controllability and short-circuit ruggedness delivers the highest electrical performance among SC devices, with a humidity robustness of HV-H3TRB.

Infoenon says that the IGBT7 T7 is the best-in-class device for industrial motor drives providing a great ease of use in a wide range of applications including UPS/PV and air conditioner PFC topologies.

Features include overload capability, lower on state voltage, enhanced controllability and improved diode and benefits are increased power, frame size jump, low losses and optimised driving.

Applications cover industrial motor drives, uninterruptable power supplies, photovoltaic and air conditioning PFC topologies.
