Electronic Specifier takes a look at the top 5 power products to have been released in February 2024.

First GaN FET with 1 mΩ on-resistance

EPC has launched the 100 V, 1 mOhm EPC2361. This is the lowest on-resistance GaN FET on the market offering double the power density compared to EPC’s prior-generation products.

The EPC2361 has a typical RDS(on) of just 1 mOhm in a thermally enhanced QFN package with exposed top and tiny, 3 mm x 5 mm, footprint. (Read more.)

Scintil integrates III-V lasers with silicon photonics at tower semiconductor

Scintil Photonics, a supplier of innovative silicon Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs), announces the integration of III-V-DFB lasers and amplifiers with standard silicon photonics technology in production at Tower Semiconductor, marking a pivotal step forward in the reinforcement of Scintil’s supply chain.

Scintil’s fully integrated circuits are made from a proprietary technology, relying on standard Si photonics and enabling the monolithic integration of lasers and amplifiers to bring improved performance, speed, reliability, and high-density at low power consumption for datacentre, AI, and 5G applications. Imec debuts high-speed ADC, leads in efficiency

At this week’s IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference (IEEE ISSCC2024), imec, a global research and innovation hub in nanoelectronics and digital technologies, introduces a breakthrough architecture that lays the foundation for a whole new generation of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs).

Imec’s massively time-interleaved slope-ADC design offers high power efficiency and a very compact footprint, while promising to enable exceptional conversion speeds. (Read more.)

Imec introduces compact wireless powering technology

Imec has introduced an ultrasound-based proof-of-concept for wireless powering of implantable devices, at this week’s International Solid-State Circuits Conference (IEEE ISSCC 2024).

The proposed solution of just 8 mm x 5.3 mm enables precise beam steering (up to a 53-degree angle) and requires 69 percent less power consumption - making it the smallest, lowest power consuming, wireless ultrasound powering unit among state-of-the-art systems. (Read more.)

StoreDot achieves first prismatic XFC battery cells

StoreDot announced an important achievement on its path to commercialisation with the successful manufacturing of its first-ever prismatic XFC silicon-dominant battery cells.

Prismatic cells, which are rectangular and stacked in layers, now represent the form factor of choice for a growing number of electric vehicle manufacturers. (Read more.)
