Juice Technology has announced that JUICE BOOSTER 2 is TÜV SÜD-certified. This company is reportedly the first manufacturer to have a portable 22kW charging station successfully tested by TÜV SÜD to prove compliance with the latest IEC 62752 requirements.

Alongside user-friendliness and ease of operation, quality and safety are top priorities for Juice Technology when it develops and manufactures its full range of charging stations and solutions. This is precisely why the Swiss company was so keen to make this fact crystal-clear to its regular customers worldwide and to seek certification from an independent body.

The harmonised IEC 62752 standard covers portable charging stations across the world. This complex, almost 2cm thick tome sets out technical requirements and test instructions to guarantee safe and reliable charging stations. Manufacturers who are able to display the familiar CE marking on their equipment can use it to confirm that their product complies with the latest specific European guidelines.

“Unfortunately, given that this is a very new sector, there are some products on the market that don’t comply with the standards. But the customer must be able to rely on the functionality and safety of the charging infrastructure – no ifs or buts. Having JUICE BOOSTER 2 TÜV-certified is the ideal situation, and a pioneering step in the right direction,” acknowledged Krispin Romang, Managing Director of Swiss eMobility, an association promoting the development of electromobility in Switzerland.

Christoph Erni, founder and CEO of Juice Technology, added, “The time was definitely right to seek confirmation from a neutral body, with experience in e-mobility, like TÜV SÜD, and now we can show that JUICE BOOSTER 2 complies with the guidelines in every respect.” The whole testing programme takes three months from start to finish. The equipment has to undergo extensive electrical and mechanical tests, to say nothing of leak tests, stability and vibration checks. Over 40 JUICE BOOSTER 2 devices were put through a gruelling test regime and passed with flying colours in all aspects.

Bernd Kreitmeier, Head of the Energy Systems Department at TÜV SÜD, said: “The particular challenge when testing a portable charging station of this kind for compliance with the current standard is the fact that it doesn’t just look at electrical safety. The charging station also has to satisfy the requirements in other areas such as chemical resistance, for example.

“Testing for compliance with IEC 62752 gives our customers the confidence that they are buying a safe piece of kit. This certification differs from the serviceability tests offered by the testing organisations in other countries, as these tend to concentrate on usage and durability of the equipment, but don’t actually test whether the device is safe. Such tests merely confirm that the device can be used for the advertised purpose.

“JUICE BOOSTER 2 passed all IEC 62752 tests with flying colours. We’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Juice Technology AG on this great achievement.” JUICE BOOSTER 2 was tested for compliance with IEC 62752 Ed. 1 2016 including AMD1 2018.

The key benefits:

  1. Recharge your car from any power socket: With JUICE BOOSTER 2 and its range of adapters, you can connect your electric car to any standard household or industrial socket anywhere in the world.
  2. Automatic power detection: The charger always adjusts automatically to the optimum charging power, ruling out any risk of overloading the power socket capacity.
  3. JUICE BOOSTER 2 is completely waterproof (IP 67) and can withstand being run over by a wheel load of up to three tonnes.
  4. Type 2 mains adapters are available for charging sockets, and Type 3c adapters are also available for drivers in France. This means that JUICE BOOSTER 2 can also be used at public charging stations, neatly avoiding the need for a separate charging cable.
  5. The JUICE CONNECTOR adapter plug is CE-compliant and designed so that additional functions can be added at a later date. Giving drivers the confidence that buying JUICE BOOSTER 2 and its adapters is a long-term investment.
  6. Tested by TÜV SÜD: JUICE BOOSTER 2 is the world’s first portable charging station in the 22kW class to have been tested by TÜV SÜD for compliance with IEC 62752 Ed. 1 2016 including AMD1 2018.
