Pickering Electronics, the reed relay company which has specialised in miniaturisation and high performance for over 50 years, demonstrated their latest product developments and range of high voltage relays at Productronica 2021 in Munich, Germany.

Pickering showcased the company’s range of high voltage reed relays, including the newly released Series 100HV. Pickering’s reed relays for high voltage applications can stand-off from 1kVto 15kV and enable switching from 500V to 12.5kV at up to 50W. These relays are available with PCB pins, chassis or PCB mounting & flying leads for HV connections. The relays are ideal for mixed signal semiconductor testers, high-end cable testers, backplane testers, medical electronics, electric vehicles, solar energy, big physics, in-circuit test equipment and high voltage instrumentation.

A highlight on Pickering’s stand was the new Series 100HV high voltage SIL/SIP reed relays rated up to 3kV stand-off voltage and with more than double the coil resistance of previous devices (up to 6800 Ohms). This suits applications such as transformer or cable testing or any other automatic test equipment where high voltages are involved but where low coil power consumption is required.

Also on show was the new changeover 1 Form C version of Pickering’s popular Series 67 high voltage PCB relay which features tungsten plated contacts ensuring a long and reliable life. Rated at up to 5kV stand-off, 2.5kV switching at 100W (max), the changeover relays measure just 58.4 x 12.6mm – the same size as a standard Series 67 relay – and are available with 5V, 12V or 24V coils.

More information on Pickering’s range of high voltage reed relays can be found on its website.
