XP Power has announced its JCA series of miniature, board-mounted low power DC/DC converters. Measuring just 25.4 x 20.3 x 10.0 mm (1 x 0.8 x 0.4 inches), the device’s shielded metal package is 6.4 mm (0.25 inches) shorter than the 31.8 mm (1.25 inch) industry norm. Using the customary 24-pin DIP layout, the units occupy 20% less printed circuit board area than traditional products. This allows designers to reduce the size of new developments or add in more features, while maintaining the industry standard pin-out makes the converter an ideal drop-in replacement for existing designs.
The JCA series comprises 2, 3, 4 and 6 Watt models, each offering a choice of 4 nominal input voltages of 5, 12, 24 and 48 VDC. Input options, covering a wide 2:1 voltage range, are 4.5 – 9.0 VDC, 9 – 18 VDC, 18 – 36 VDC or 36 – 75 VDC with under-voltage lockout as standard. For each input voltage, single output models offer +3.3, +5, +12 or +15 VDC outputs or the dual output versions provide +/- 5, +/- 12 or +/15 VDC. Outputs are fully regulated, varying no more than +/- 0.3% over all input conditions, and less than +/- 1.0% across all load conditions. The JCA series offer basic input to output isolation rated at 1,500 VDC and case to input or output is 500 VDC.

Suitable for a wide variety of application environments, the converters operate from -40 degrees to +100 degrees C with derating above +75 degrees C. No additional heat sinking or forced air cooling is required. The maximum case temperature is +100 degrees C.

The series has EN, UL, CSA and CE safety approvals and meets EN55022-A for conducted emissions and EN55022-B for radiated emissions without any additional components.
