DC/DC converters exceed 90% efficiency
Power conversion specialists Ideal Power are now offering a wide range of DC/DC converters from Glary Power Technology. Glary are renowned worldwide for producing extremely reliable power converters that. These innovative DC/DC converters exceed 90% efficiency, are thermally efficient and have an impressive power density to size ratio.
Switching regulator suits applications with few PCBs
Expanding the company's popular R-78 switching regulator family, RECOM has announced the R-78W which is intended for use in applications which utilise few or no PCBs. In LED lighting solutions, for example, the switching regulator can be connected in parallel with the LED driver to generate a constant voltage for a fan.
Mobile charger could save six nuclear plants of energy
To reduce global energy consumption, Harri Tiainen has developed a charger which automatically cuts the electric current after charging is complete. Suitable for smartphones, laptops and tablets, the BrightCharger combines a mobile device charger, an LED light, design and an egg timer.
PoL converters are both compact and powerful
A series of PoL converters, designed for the use within stationary and mobile telecommunications as well as computing applications, has been released by MTM Power. The PMDPOL series of DC/DC converters, which are both compact powerful, are available with 5, 10, 15, 16 and 20A output currents.
Power supply targets security & UPS applications
To meet higher wattage requirements, MEAN WELL has added a 160W power supply to it's PSC family. The PSC-160, which is designed for security applications, is available in both a PCB version and an enclosed version. Featuring an additional charger output, the power supply is suited for use in UPS applications.
Ethernet switches utilise PoE+ to deliver more power
Enabling four Ethernet Switch ports to be simultaneously deployed for the supply of power, HARTING has announced the Ha-VIS eCon Ethernet switches. Using the higher-power variant PoE+ standard (based on IEEE 802.3at) to offer power levels of up to 34.2W, the Ethernet switches provide more power to connected system devices, significantly increasing the variety of potential applications.
Switching regulator controller produces 20A output currents
The LTC3853, a triple output synchronous step-down switching regulator controller, has been released by Linear Technology. Operating over a 4.5-24V input voltage range, the controller can produce output currents up to 20A per phase with output voltages of 0.8-13.5V. These H- and MP-grade versions, which have an efficiency up to 95%, are guaranteed over operating junction temperatures from -40 to +150&d...
Regulator features an integrated heat sink
A triple output step-down µModule regulator, featuring an integrated heat sink, has been introduced by Linear Technology. The LTM4634, which is offered in a 15x15x5.01mm BGA package, delivers full current on 5, 5 and 4A outputs. Featuring three DC/DC controllers, power switches and inductors, the regulator provides more than 70W of output power at 65°C ambient with 200LFM airflow.
AC/DC power supplies feature industrial & medical approvals
Featuring power ratings of 24, 40 and 60W, respectively, the AJM-24, APM-40 and AYM-60 fully encapsulated, Class II AC/DC power supplies have been unveiled by MINMAX Power. Operating over a temperature range from -40 to +85°C, with derated power ratings after 60°C, the power supplies are available in compact packages with PCB, Chassis Mount or DIN Rail Mount options.
3A regulator targets space-constrained applications
Featuring a fixed 650kHz switching frequency and a wide input voltage range of 4.5-15V, Vishay Intertechnology has announced the SiP12116 integrated synchronous buck regulator. This 3A device is suited for PoL regulation and 5 and 12V rails in space-constrained computing, consumer electronics, telecomms and industrial applications.
