Featuring a fixed 650kHz switching frequency and a wide input voltage range of 4.5-15V, Vishay Intertechnology has announced the SiP12116 integrated synchronous buck regulator. This 3A device is suited for PoL regulation and 5 and 12V rails in space-constrained computing, consumer electronics, telecomms and industrial applications.

Combining high- and low-side n-channel MOSFETs with Current-Mode, Constant On-Time (CM-COT) control, the SiP12116 enables simplified designs with minimal components. The integrated MOSFETs offer peak efficiency of up to 95% and the CM-COT control delivers ultra-fast transient response with minimum output capacitance, tight ripple regulation at light loads and no ESR requirements. It also ensures that the regulator supports all MLCCs. Typical end products include DSPs, FPGAs, ASICs, high-density storage cards, TVs, set-top boxes, distributed power systems and servers.

Offering an adjustable output voltage down to 0.6V with ±2% accuracy, the buck regulator features a built-in soft start of 1ms. The device includes comprehensive protection features including cycle-by-cycle current limit, short circuit protection, over temperature protection, input under-voltage lockout and a power good function.

Supplied in a space-saving 3x3mm DFN10 package with thermal pad, the SiP12116 providing designers with a complete buck regulator design in only 100 mm². The integrated buck regulator is available now for sampling and in production quantities, with lead times of 10-12 weeks for larger orders.
