Converters deliver 91% efficiency in 1x1" footprint
Designed for datacomms, telecomms, industrial control, test and measurement, broadcast and portable battery powered equipment, TDK-Lambda has announced a series of 30W DC/DC converters. The CCG30 series can operate over a wide 4:1 input range from either a 9-36 or an 18-76VDC input, providing output voltages of 3.3, 5, 12 or 15VDC and currents up to 7A.
Brushed DC gate driver reduces board space by 40%
Offering adjustable gate drive settings with the flexibility to drive a wide range of external FETs, Texas Instruments has announced an integrated gate driver which supports multiple motors, speeds or varying loads. The DRV8701 allows designers to replace up to 45 discrete components with a single device to build smaller and more robust designs.
100A μModule regulator offers 70ms power up time
Linear Technology Corporation announces the LTM4676A, a dual 13A or single 26A, current shareable up to 100A μModule step-down DC/DC regulator with PMBus serial digital interface. The digital interface enables system designers and remote operators to command and supervise a system’s power condition and consumption.
225W supply provides 93% minimum average efficiency
Offering a minimum average efficiency of 93% and a maximum efficiency of 95%, a series of high efficiency open frame AC/DC power supplies has been unveiled by XP Power. The EPL225 series' high efficiency results in a no-load power consumption of less than 0.5W, less heat to dissipate and a cooler running unit, contributing to a more reliable longer-life power supply.
GaN demos 60A power transistor in China for first time
GaN Systems last week showcased the latest addition to its successful range of E-mode GaN-on-Silicon high power transistors on Booth 4D18 at PCIM Asia in Shanghai. Based on three core proprietary technologies, the GS65516T GaN high-power enhancement-mode device boasts the highest current capability on the market at 60A.
MOSFET relay suits high-current industrial applications
The EPR311A066107EZ MOSFET relay from Excel Cell (ECE), a division of Endrich, is specifically designed for high current applications (continuous: 2.5A, peak: 4A), commonly found in industrial equipment. The MOSFET relay is a possible solid-state replacement for single-pole, normally-open (Form 1A) electromechanical relays.
Designing for complex power systems
The implementation of complex multi-rail power solutions that combine high efficiency and high power density with excellent thermal performance is being greatly eased with the development of a new generation of power components that can be used as the building blocks of complete power systems. By Robert Russell, Vice President Product Marketing, Power Solutions, Vicor.
Improve light-load efficiency of a PFC converter
Economic and environmental concerns are forcing the power supply industry to improve efficiency across the entire load range, not just at heavy load, but methods to improve light-load efficiency are developing. By Bosheng Sun, Systems Engineer, Texas Instruments.
