Powersolve, the leading power solutions specialist company, announces the ROAL Electronics RHPS front-end power supply range. Available in both 12 and 48V output versions, the new power sources have been designed for use in distributed power architectures to power high-density DC/DC modules and Point of Load converters (PoLs). As such, they will satisfy a wide range of applications in IT, telecoms, networking and broadcast systems.
Housed in a compact 1U high enclosure, the modules can be used as individual units or rack-mounted where up to five can be paralleled or used in an N+1 redundant configuration. Powersolve is able to supply fully configured 19in rack power systems capable of providing up to 7500W.

Input voltage is a wide 90 to 264VAC and active power correction is standard. Depending on input voltage, the modules will give 700/1200W at 12V or 750/1500W at 48V which equates to a power density of up to 21W/in³. Efficiency levels can be as high as 90%.

Other significant features include hot-swap capability, active current sharing and variable speed fan control. Some intelligence is built-in to the units with communication via the I²C bus and a high degree of protection is offered against parameters such as overcurrent, over/under voltage, overtemp and short circuit conditions.
