Vishay Expands Its E/H Series of QPL MIL-PRF-55342-Qualified Thin Film SMD Resistor Chips

Vishay today announced that it has extended its E/H series of MIL-PRF-55342-qualified thin film surface-mount resistor chips to offer an S level failure rate of 0.001 % per 1,000 hours in 12 case sizes. The QPL devices are qualified to TCR characteristics E, H, K, L, and M.

The enhanced resistors’ established reliability is assured through 100 % screening and extensive environmental testing that includes 100 % group A, power conditioning, and Group B lot testing, through which the devices have been rated and approved for an S failure rate level.
The Vishay Dale Thin Film MIL-PRF-55342 resistors were verified in qualification to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM E-595) standard test method for total mass loss (TML) and collected volatile condensable materials (CVCM) from outgassing in a vacuum environment for space level requirements.

Intended for high-reliability military and aerospace applications with stringent performance requirements, the E/H series’ all-sputtered wraparound terminations ensure excellent adhesion and dimensional uniformity. The MIL-PRF-55342 thin film devices feature an electroplated nickel barrier layer for operating conditions to + 150 °C, a TAMELOX resistive element, and a high-purity alumina substrate for high power ratings to 1000 mW.

In addition to very low noise of less than – 25 dB and a low voltage coefficient of < 0.1 ppm/V, the resistors offer an absolute TCR down to ± 25 ppm/°C, laser-trimmed tolerances down to 0.1 %, and a resistance range from 10 Ω to 6.19 MΩ, depending on case size and TCR characteristics. The MIL-PRF-55342 thin film devices provide a shelf-life stability of ± 0.01 % and are offered in antistatic waffle pack or tape-and-reel packaging.

Samples and production quantities of the new S level devices are available now with standard lead times of stock to 10 weeks.
